If Team Parker had of thought they had won it then they would have protested and kicked up a fuss but nothing but instead of that, the opposite was true with every single team member admitting that they didnt do enough. People going on about some kind of super human humility at work here are reaching to put it kindly.

I almost complete agree with your post, but this sentence I don't get. The logic here is wrong. The fact that Parker landed less is not the reason, but the consequence.
And the reason's their plan for the fight was wrong. It seems they thought "we will fight on the back-foot, and, when Joshua gets desperate... " Why on earth AJ would get desperate, lol? Just to please the fans? He was smarter than that.
