They aren't seeking to overturn the result of the fight...

"The camp of Alexander Povetkin plans to lodge a protest, not to overturn the result of Povetkin’s loss to Wladimir Klitschko last Saturday in Moscow, but instead to penalize referee Luis Pabon for his handling of the fight. Povetkin’s agent Dmitry Ivanov told RIA Novosti’s sports affiliate R-Sport that the protest to world sanctioning bodies is to ensure “this referee never again oversees a high-level fight.” Ivanov stated that Pabon, likely the WBA’s most often used world title referee, didn’t implement any measures against Klitschko to make it a clean, fair and entertaining fight."

This is actually a worthwhile protest. For all the flak Wladimir is getting, the ref is the one who really deserves crtiticism. He allowed Wlad to hold all night long and it made for a dreadful fight.

would like to have seen Povetkin protest with his fists a bit during the fight instead of doing this after the fight.

Pabon altered the fight in Povetkin's favor when he took on Huck, didn't see any protests there.

Yeah basically in pro sports everything is allowed until ref warns you, so Wlad did what he did but really referee is the one that needs to stop that!

I agree but a message needs to be sent to Pabon that he needs to not let fighters get ragdolled like that. It was a rough fight and the referees job to properly control it. Pabon failed to do so.

I don't remember Povetkin complaining when the same ref allowing him to duck forward and put his head down every other time Huck would open up, and then stopping Huck from punching due to 'rabbit punching', getting Pov out of the fire at the time.

Povetkin's camp should of had the foresight to of know this was going to happen.

How he was allowed ref the fight is baffling.
