I don't know who wrote this or if many people collaborated on it. But kudos wikipedia. Kudos https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Battle_of_the_Little_Giants Yes this is going to be my next breakdown.
Sad article, for sure. Sanchez had thought that many years were ahead for him as he made plans to become a doctor. Suddenly taken in the prime of life, surely tomorrow is promised to no one.
Many of us grieved in losing Salvador so young and wish he had been more careful on that fateful day, we all should be ready to meet our maker.
I'm saddened everytime I think of Sal, fine boxer and a fine kid from what I've read on him and seeing him on tv in that time period.
The Zarate vs Gomez fight is a good story too, with both fighters being overweight and other issues pre-weigh-in, plus the fight being in PR, and not at a neural site like Las Vegas. Gomez being type of fighter he is, hit Zarate while Zarate was down and could/should have been disqualified. But in reality, Sanchez had the guns/chin to beat Gomez, while Zarate didn't.
