Hah, no sweat. You got me there.

Julio was greatness before the hard partying and Don King got to him.

The crazy head movement that Qawi displayed in many of his greatest performances indicates that he was hardly devoid of technical abilty. It's not like his punch technique was lacking, either. Yeah, in his own way, I'd say he qualifies.

Jeff Chandler only had two amatuer bouts, but was also an excellent technician.

By no means meant to imply I don't have utmost respect for Qawi's skills. Certainly not some caveman Carlos Maussa type or anything - just for me wouldn't be one of the first names that springs to mind as peers with a Toney, Happy Lora, or Pea.

Fair, but I think he's one of the more technically adept swarmers to come down the line in the modern era, both in terms of defense, and offense.

It is interesting to ponder how much baked-in bias a lot of us have as to what a "technician" is stylistically supposed to look like. That mention of a JCC or Qawi raises eyebrows is a testament to how overlooked elite swarmers are as nuanced craftsmen in the ring.

Jolting Jeff Chandler for me. Watching his mastery on so many weekends on CBS .
Knowing that the man had only two amateur fights.
It made me realize some are just born to be a great fighter.
