What do you prefer to do as a student ?

Why are so many gyms and even students against technical sparring ?

I prefer technical but every once in a while I think some heavy sparring is good to test your grit but to also maintain calmness after taking a big hit. A technical heavy spar

I prefer heavy sparring. Technical sparring can be good to work on certain skills but if you do nothing but technical sparring you will be in for a shock when you go in for a fight.

Heavy sparring prepares you better I think, technical sparring is good for honing your skills or learning new tricks, but heavy sparring is essential.

Also it depends on what you mean by technical sparring, like r1p00pk says you have a technical heavy spar which is good. Going hard and throwing hard shots but looking to box rather than have a gym war.

I like doing both, but doing heavy sparring gives you the more intensity you will feel during a real fight.

My trainer lets us usually do technical sparring when the fight is far away and we start doing some heavy sparring, yet technical when the fight is coming closer.

In my opinion heavy sparring will get you ready for the fight better since when it's more all out you tend to get more tired and nervous so it's good preparations for the fight

Technical sparring at a high intensity is my favourite method of learning new skills and has seen a huge improvement in myself as a fighter over the last 3months.

Heavy sparring has a place every now and then especially in the week leading up to a fight but if you over do it you build up injuries and slow your technical progression I find.

Technical, speed covers up mistakes. If you slow things down, both your flaws and your strengths are exposed

Technical sparring is very good. but if I was forced to choose one type for the rest of my life....I'd pick heavy all the way!
