Jab, feints, straights through the middle, and the "matador approach".

You don't want to have your back pressed against the stands when a bull is charging. Have to make sure you give yourself ample time to escape and plan where your escape routes will be pre-bull charging.

During a clinch(shouldn't be this close anyways but if this ever occurs), see if you can push him back without exerting too much energy. Turn him to reset his position but circle out as backing straight back can get you hit by a hook or straight.

Chavez keeps an opening in his basic guard so feint with up-bottom variations with jabs and nail him with straights. I say "nail" because you have to get him to respect your power enough so he is a bit hesistant charging forward thus allowing you to keep the fight at a outboxing distance. Jabs don't have to be hard as you want to use a lot of them and really focus on stopping im in his tracks with straights. Forget that macho crap, he loves that. Win the fight without being dragged into a war as even if you win it you'll take far more damage than you need to.

Circling. Can't stress this enough. Have to keep him moving to frustrate him and lull him to sleep. When he wants to speed up the pace which he will, straights should keep him honest along with short hooks then sidestepping out to keep him resetting again. Back to wait I said about moving him, do it with both force and your feet but you cant push him then make him pivot with sidesteps and circling in the proper directions to fight from the "circle" in the ring and not from the corners.

Just a bit of stuff but the problem is can Martinez keep focus. Remember Chavez will outweigh him by 15-20+ pds. He can't afford to just go in there with arrogance over gameplan. Should be a fun fight I can't "weight".

Speed and lateral movement and it should be a relatively easy night for Martinez.
Chavez will be facing someone thats not going to stand in front of him and thats going to be really hard for him to deal with. If Martinez fights a stupid fight Chavez can win, but I dont see that happening.

so how did everyone else's predictions hold up? Called it down to the very main punch Sexy would be using.

    Keep it simple

These ethnic fighters are slowly falling at the hands of non-Black but still Slick fighters. Sex Bomb Sergio and Knee are as slick as it gets for non-Black guys.:hi:

Maybe he read this. I noticed he came out at first with his guard uncharacteristically high. His right elbow did a good job at protecting himself from the hook to the body. He impressed me with his infighting savvy, it makes it even better that he was able to hold his own in there for moments against an infighter.

There was a round where he put on a jabbing exhibition. Now I understand why bball said it's his best punch.

I saw the hook over the jab in the mid rounds.

He couldn't be stopped with that str8 to the body though. Sometimes Julio Jr would outright backoff for awhile due to the pain of the shot. It was brilliant at breaking Julio Jr's momentum.

The ultra high and tight guard seems to be great at protecting against str8s. Cotto(e) used it against Floyd. Sexy Sergio wasn't able to hit Julio Jr with the left to the face cleanly as much as I thought he would have.

This is my favorite Sexy Sergio fight so far. He showed nearly as much versatility as Floyd and Ward although not as polished.

    Not too bad.

RE: Bottom paragraph - The only time Chavez regularly threw as he was moving in was the 12th round and it was his best round by a distance. Hopefully a lesson learned for the kid.

After Robearto(e) fought Hagler, he walked over to Leonard who was sitting ringside sharing, "You box him, you beat him."

Same thing applies to Sexy Sergio. Made in Mexico punching bags are almost as great as their boxers.

I was laughing at people who were calling this a replay of Cotto(e)-margo(e) I. It's more like emmanuel-margo(e).

A tough but relatively low skilled Mexican allowed them, emmanroid and Sergio, to unleash their offensive arsenals showcasing everything they have. THis fight will now deceive people just like margo(e)-emmanroid did as people think the southpaws are fully capable of doing all that sh1t against opponents.

Boxalot is right. Sergio style fighters make Julio Jr style fighters look bad.

bonus factor is how both Sexy Sergio and emmanroid had there oh **** please don't get knocked out moments in these fights.
