Pernell was rated highly p4p but had no love from fans and media....just like Floyd today, so how could you possibly love his style but hate Floyd's? He was considered even more a runner, cutesy, scared to get hit, etc...

    Current:
    Lomachenko
    Gonzalez
Inoue (Gonzalez-Inoue would be fast-paced explosive chess)

    Past:
Barrera! Was exciting not just as an attacking body puncher, but as a patient counterpuncher too.
Tapia. Great jab and counterpuncher, but always fought with spirit and loved to throw combos and engage.
Azumah Nelson. Always dished out severe discipline with his boxing lessons.
Toney. He was hot and cold throughout his career, but in his best wins his perfect technique his commitment to punishing his man made him dazzling to watch
    Duran

I don't mind the slower-paced, grinding fights of Hopkins, Rigo, Ricardo Lopez, early Marquez. But come on, they can't be called exciting. Whitaker stood inside and made his opponent miss while undressing and demoralising him, so could be considered more exciting than outside boxers like Camacho, Ali, etc. But he was a light hitter and sometimes a spoiler, so it's reaching to call him exciting.

There are so many if we are talking about technically skilled fighters. 95% champions are very technically skilled.

At the moment Golovkin, Ward, Rigo, Kovalev, Hopkins and Loma.

That's quite a broad definition of both 'technical' and 'entertaining' if fighters with styles as diverse as theirs are all included. It's like they all know how to... box a bit and punch their opponent. For me watching Ward, Rigo, and Hopkins is intriguing, engaging. But not the perfect marriage of technique and excitement that the topic's looking for.
