A very good match-up on Friday: Former European champion Ted Bami vs. skilled David Barnes, a 12-rounder.

Bami is very, very solid fighter. Strong and decent skills... Does everything pretty well and has no big weaknesis... Maybe he is nothing special at world class, but a very solid fighter. Barnes is faster, maybe a bit more skilled, but also vunerable. Not nearly as solid or strong as Bami. Style-wise this is a good fight for Barnes?

I belive that sooner or later Bami“s pressure gets to Barnes and Bami starts to dominate. He is not a huge puncher, so I pick him to win a decision. Something like 116-112, pretty close, but still a clear win for Ted Bami.

This fight is a real *******. I was over joyed when I first heard about it. Barnes seemed to disappear last year but now get's a well deserved shot at a very good belt and Bami is also a very under appreciated fighter. We should be in for a very good night of boxing.

I think Barnes will come out on top but Bami can always be a danger.

Apparently this is for Colin Lynes British Title - so he has either been stripped or had to vacate, either way I can't say I was overjoyed when I heard about this fight. As I understand it, Lynes risked losing his Euro Title otherwise.

He only won the British in June of last year, put it on the line the following month so I think its ridiculous to take the Title off him in these circumstances.

As for the Euro Title, its not his fault he hasn't fought his mandatory Branco who pulled out of his scheduled fight with Lynes forcing him to find another opponent (Tolppola) to defend against.

Good luck to Barnes & Bami but its situations like this that frustrate me following boxing.

Bami looked terrible last time I saw him

Based on that, I pick Barnes

Yep Lynes was forced to vacate the British belt, unfortunate circumstances but they are the rules and hopefully Lynes is going onto bigger and better.

Bami has been awful recently, that is why I pick Barnes but Bami can not be underestimated. Bami can still do alot at this level but if he loses I not know where he could go. Barnes deserves a crack at the belt.

I am not British, so I just can´t understand that the British title mean, when you have got the European title. Here in Finland we really appressiate the European title... to me it is natural that when a fighter wins a European title, thet he gives away his national title...

Anyway, I thought that Bami looked good against Lauri. I did not see him against Guisset, but wasn´t he long injured, so that might be the reason to a bad performance. Now he has had at least one tune-up fight this one. But I just noticed that Bami weighted 149 against Giusset. The fight was late in January. He might struggle to make 140 pounds?

I still think that Bami is classier fighter that Barnes.

Surely Lynes could have defended both titles against either one of these guys or did he not fancy it? Bami is a strong physical bully type who can dish it out but cannot take. Barnes is not bad also has his limitations though I would pick both guys over Lynes.

colin lynes wanted to fight barnes for both titles but ebu would not sanction it saying he must fight branco as mandatory bbbc said he could not fight without putting both titles up hence he has had to relinquish british and fight branco in may probably in italy,as for bami/barnes i would have picked bami but on recent form and with personal baggage to deal with i will side with barnes , colin would have beaten either of them on current form

Not covinced. Anybody truly physical not handicapped like Muttley will give Lynes problems hence a sincere Bami spells trouble for Lynes. Of course as you rightly point out whether you get a sincere Bami these days is debatable.
