I think Kid Lewis takes this one. He'd bury his head in Wilfredo's chest, and completely ignore El Radar's own head in digging to the body incessantly. Benitez had dangerous power when coming forward, but not so much when laying on the ropes. As slender as he was, Benitez could take it downstairs, so he might last the distance. He'd score easily with his tap-tap-tapping off the ropes to Lewis's head, but the smashing, dashing, bashing, crashing one, wins the UD on sheer aggression, bodypunching, and infighting tactics. I have footage of Lewis in action, and I just don't see Benitez prevailing over an opponent who was known to score early kayoes against much larger foes with his body assault.
I agree with the above. Lewis would be thrashing about up close and simply outwork Benitez, who I always thought lacked power when backed up. He was never a great one for training and preparation either, which usually didn't matter because he fought so relaxed, but against Lewis, Benitez would be under pressure and forced to work. He wouldn't outslug Lewis though. These are the same reasons I see Beau Jack beating Nicolino Locche.
not enough talk about ted kid lewis on the forum... i think he'd be too much for benitez physically. benitez would do his evade-a-body-shot bit, before realising there was plenty more where that came from... lewis ud.
Hi, M, I agree with you on Beau Jack beating Nicolino Loche. I saw the Gatling gun Beau Jack at his best, and he threw a non-stop assortment of hooks, bolo punches, uppercuts ,crosses,in rapid fire for 15 rounds.Too many punches would get past Loche, clever as he was.
