These are two of Harry Greb's less discussed opponents, both got shots at the middleweight title; are these boys more than a little underrated as wins? You never see them mentioned as Greb wins. Bryan Downey Downey's form wasn't great going into his title shot, having lost to the beast Lou Bogash but bounced back with a victory over Tommy Robson. Immediately after the Greb thrashing he bounced back again with a victory over Jack Delaney who was only two months on from victories over Paul Berlenbach and Tommy Loughran. A serious man in other words. Previous to that he has a victory over the great Mike O'Dowd, reportedly even dropping him, boxed a draw with Johnny Wilson, and dropped and out-pointed another granite-jawed legend in Jack Britton (at a catch at 152lbs). Greb moidered him. Ted Moore Moore twice beat Downey and although his wider resume wasn't as impressive he did beat a streaking Lou Bogash and Frank Moody, which were stand out wins. Their first fight was a weird one in which Greb appears to have set out to box firmly within the rules as he did against Wilson; Greb seems to have won easily though. But there was a second fight in which Moore appears to have done a little better. These guys seem a little underrated and I feel for most other champs, their respective pedigrees might have made them stand-out opponents. Any thoughts or insights?

I would recommend anyone read about the first Downey-Wilson fight. Downey legitimately knocked out Wilson and should have been more widely regarded as the MW champion but for the fact that Wilson's referee saved his title with a bogus ruling. Even still several states regarded Downey as the champion. He wasnt a bad fighter at all. Very experienced and he gave Delaney a one sided beating after Greb.
