Teddy Atlas in the book Ultimate Boxing Lists made his FlW list...... Well......I don´t agree, and we know how Teddy can be controversial.... Anyway, I think is interesting to share....... Flyweight 1- Jimmy Wilde 2- Pancho Villa 3- Ricardo Lopez  4- Pascual Perez 5- Miguel Canto 6- Masao Ohba 7- Frankie Genaro 8- Midget Wolgast 9- Peter Kane 10- Fidel LaBarba
I don't think it's that bad vic.Lopez might be too high but i do prefer to rate everyone under Fly that merits all-time consideration at Fly anyway, so i kind of like his inclusion, at least in principle.
Peter Kane is an odd choice IMO. Lopez horrific even if you include his actual career as a 'Flyweight' career. Lynch is a conspicuous absence, Kane probably best him the 2nd time in all reality but the first fight was the biggie and Lynch smashed him. Not sold on Kane's resume at the weight and his reign was not great at all, although obviously he has some repute as a puncher. Shame Ohba died as Bus Station would've battered him and ranked highly on everyone's list.
I find Lopez at 3rd odd....but yeah, if we include light-flyweights at flyweight lists, I don´t see the big problem, definitely.......even so is too high IMHO... I wouldn´t rate Wolgast that low though..... And I don´t have too much knowledge about Ohba (bought from RB this week many of his fights btw), but perhaps he is too high ?? :think
He might not have been the best,,,,,,but he was the 'Coolest' "Go With The Pone' This content is protected
No. Bus Station was the better (and cooler) Thai fly IMO. Not even Pone could be cool in either the first Ebihara or Harada fights.
Venice Bus Station is the man in my avatar.Battered Betulio Gonzalez, outboxed Salavarria, moved up to bantam and appeared to get the better of Rafael Herrera. As we're all unable to agree on Borkorsor or Borkhorsor we shall use the literal translation from now on.
I've always like Miguel Canto best among the flys. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBVXgCyN8BM[/ame]
Wolgast should definitely be above Genaro. An Wee Willie Davies is a top 10'er, imho. He gave Genaro a thorough beating and has many top names on his resume: http://www.cyberboxingzone.com/boxing/davies-willie.htm
Nothing really wrong with it, most of the flyweight lists you see on here would have the same number of foibles. Lopez is ok if you're rating guys who've weighed in under the flyweight limit, you can't rate him that high as a fly obviously.
If we're rating guys under the limit then Chang, who actually fought at Flyweight, would be a far better choice than Lopez.
