Canelo is very good. Great Chin, Good power, Good defence, Good Jab (when he's not loading up), Good movement, Good Ring IQ, Great at cutting off the ring and he's crafty when he looks in the direction of a body shot but comes over the top with a Right hand. He's constantly making you think in there. I do not agree with Teddy downplaying Canelo's greatness. However, I do agree he's not the greatest Mexican boxer of all time. I'd say around 8 - 10. Chavez, Olivares, Moralles, Barerra, Marquez, Sanchez, Zarate are still in front of him. Yet, hes still active and may rise above some of those guys. Canelo's biggest blemish is the "tainted meat" scandel.

I don't think Canelo is overrated, but his fans certainly overrate him.

I've been asking this question for some time now. What is that one performance that we can look at and say? "MAN... this guy is one of the best that ever did it...".

Most Canelo fights post ggg 2 have been fixed sparring sessions. So yep

Jacobs, Callum Smith, and BJS were his best performances for me.

Good performances were GGG 2 (which was clearly a draw imo), Kovalev (clearly shot), Plant (good finish but was more competitive than it needed to be), Lara and Trout (Lara shouldve been a draw and a weak case for Trout winning 7 rounds), Cotto (Canelo gassed...again), and Jermell (glorified sparring match w JMW/MW)

    Teddy Atlas is overrated.

He's just a loud-mouthed, mentally-disturbed clown. Why should the opinions of a fool matter?

Atlas caused a decline in every fighter he trained: Poor Michael Grant, Moorer (Teddy was yelling when Foreman KOed him), Gvozdyk (who was brutally stopped by Beterbiev), and Povetkin (who was doing great until he hooked up with Atlas).

Listen to what George Foreman says here:

I give Canelo his due as the kid has actually took on some dangerous opposition in his career.

Currently at 168 his only real challenge left is David B.

Who else has to jump up divisions to find worthy opponents???

Atlas seems a bit of an attention seeker. My only thing with Canelo is that I hope that he doesn't go another year without fighting Benavidez. That's the fight that needs to be made.

By Canelo's standards this has been a bit of an off year with Ryder being the only decent opposition, but I hope he picks it up next year. Benavidez needs to be made, then he can fight whomever as far as I'm concerned.

What I like about Canelo is that he doesn't walk around calling himself TBEMF.
