IMO Chagaev is the best fighter Wlad has beaten, and in his prime would beat the everlovin' **** out of Povetkin.

However, if Chagaev isn't what he was, this fight will be tough to win. Chagaev's style is very physical, with a lot of head and ring movement. If these slow down, he's gonna be in trouble.

Agreed. Wlad has already beaten Chagaev, no need to see a repeat...I'd rather see a new opponent.

Atlas won't let Povetkin fight Wlad anyway.

I'll admit my grammar is pretty bad, but sometimes I just don't notice my mistakes! which are glaringly obvious. I appreciate the fact you pointed that out. I know you'll find a 274076 other mistakes. Just let me know what they are, and i'll learn better that way. Thanks dude. :thumbsup

So what impressive win of Chagaev does make you think he is the best fighter Wlad has beaten ?

Imo Valuev is Chagaev´s best win, but that´s nothing special. Even Larry Donald was able to beat Valuev just didn´t get the Decision. And there can be an Argument made that Marcelo Dominguez should´ve won too imo, also John Ruiz and Holyfield.

Other than the Valuev fight, he had very close fights with Skelton, Virchis and Ruiz, all could´ve gone either way type of fights.

That does not make me think that prime Chagaev was better than prime Byrd, Mercer, Rahman, Brewster, Peter, Ibraghimov, Chambers, Haye.

Surely things could have gone better but lets face it - if it weren't for Atlas Povetkin would have been destroyed by Wlad and had his career taken a turn for the worst. At least now he's building up some experience to at least increase his odds of performing better against Klitschko if that time comes in the future.

I agree Chagaev, is probably not the best Wlad has beaten.

That said though Chagaev WAS the first boxer to comprehensively outbox the giant Valuev, and he was the blue print that others studied and followed to box Valuev. In my opinion Chagaev did a better job than Haye with Valuev.

I also have to take issue with your opinion on the Skleton fight......it wasn't close.........Sketon in my eyes barely won a round....and the official judges saw it that way too 117-110 117-111 117-111,;)

I do feel like Povetkin has been hurt more than helped by Atlas, but I also feel he'll still beat a shell of Ruslan Chagaev. The problem is that Atlas tried to completely overhaul his style instead of just making tweaks. Eventually, maybe he'll be better with the new style, but for now, he still makes way too many mistakes to execute it.

From my memory the Seklton fight was a close thing, very awfull to watch, so i won´t do it again. Chagaev didn´t move a lot in that fight and Skelton made him fight his way. Back then i thought it could be a draw before they announced the scores, but OK, maybe i was wrong. It definately wasn´t a good performance by Chagaev though let alone an impressive one.

Just don´t understand how one can state that Chagaev was the best fighter, Wlad has beaten. There is nothing in his record that indicates him being that good. Chris Byrd was way better in his prime and so was Ray Mercer.
