i have been listening to the Teddy Atlas podcasts, and the recent one is about a fist fight/scuffle Teddy once had at Gleasons gym with World champion Hector Camacho. I have heard Teddy fought with some trainers before but I never heard about this one. Having seen him push George Foreman at a press conference I guess Teddy is not backing down to Comacho either. Supposedly Atlas beat up Shannon Briggs in a elevator one time and also put a gun up Tyson's head and told him to keep running and never look back... I've never heard any of these stories substantiated by the fighters themselves, but if true they would leave me to believe Atlas has some anger issues
I doubt it. Atlas seems to be compensating for something with these over the top anecdotes. Maybe he's bitter he didn't have an actual boxing career? Perhaps there was indeed an altercation but it might have been exaggerated in his mind. Convenient that the other person in question has passed away.
Boxing is one of the best types of fighting styles that translates best to a street fight. I can't see him beating up a world class heavyweight contender at least without a weapon.
Yeah beating up your local neighborhood tough guy isn't the same as beating up a world class contender. See the late Kimbo Slice for more details.
I heard the podcast...basically Atlas got Camacho in a head lock after eating some jabs, and they both agreed to stop. This was in Gleason's Gym...Camacho stepped into the ring in between sparring sessions of Atlas' guys, and he started to shadowboxing in the ring and wouldn't get out. Atlas got pissed and got in ring and they threw some punches at each other. Whole thing took one or two minutes.
