It seems my list was a bowl of hasty pudding.

JCC, Chava, Púas, Canto, Zárate, MAB/EM/JMM, and Finito. There's already, with nine men there, down to just a pigeonhole of room left for Canelo to fit through, at #10, and some may want to enter pleas for Macías or Saldivar or even a contemporary in El Gallo. Chance he could wind up on the bubble of a reasonable top 15 tbh.

I think erring on the side of denying him a top-ten berth is currently much sounder than claiming one for him ...and los cinco primeros es locura.

Estrada is greater than Lopez but I don't think many want to hear it.

Earlier on Canelo read these remarks from Teddy Atlas and this really brought his mood and self esteem down so what he did was he had his big titty tight mistress ride his **** and afterwards he logged into his internet bank account acces and took a good long look at all those tens of millions of dollars just sitting there in his account. After this Canelo felt alot better.

I too just took a look at one of my accounts right now, doesn't contain any millions of $'s but looking at it made me feel a bit better. If only I could now find someone to ride my...

I think he's top five. I think he's way ahead of Lopez. I'm not sure Lopez would make my ten being honest, he didn't make my top 100 (Canelo would now) and didn't make my 120 draft either. He was swirling around for the 150 though.

He's already ahead of Morales and Barrera too and I don't see how that could be considered controversial. Canto is an interesting shout but it's a p4p argument after all.

Though I think that is a fair point, given the poll was before a lot of his recent achievements. But, I did notice Canelo scored 30 points, with 20 of those points coming from two guys who voted Canelo #1. It's the same problem @Rumsfeld had doing his lists of greatest fighters. If I recall correctly one poster kept voting RJJ #1 on every poll and it completely skewed his standing

Canelo is a lot greater than Zarate, he's also clearly greater than Olivares and Finito. Olivares was pretty up and down at the world level, even though he was very dominant outside of it. He doesn't have elite wins across multiple divisions like Canelo, and he definitely isn't as succesful %wise at the top level, he lost almost as much as he won, even at his best.

Name one great boxer that Canelo beat in his prime.

Until then, Atlas will be right.

Since I'm not a genuine historian, I should not speak of his actual ranking in all of history of Mexican Boxing - but there's no way Morales, Barrera or Finito should be ranked ahead of him.

Just gonna throw some random top 10 Mexican fighters out there.

    Julio Cesar Chavez
    Juan Manuel Marquez
    Erik Morales
    Marco Antonio Barrera
    Salvador Sanchez
    Miguel Canto
    Ricardo Lopez
    Ruben Olivares
    Vicente Saldivar
    Carlos Zarate

They're some of the most recognizable Mexican fighters that come to mind, how you rate Canelo amongst those fighters is up you.

This is another reason boxing is in such a bad state. You have other organizations like Formula 1 and the NFL as examples that go to extensive measures to protect the brand and devote extensive resources to do just that . Boxing doesn't have that and so it is just a bunch of internet guys either badly overhyping a guy until everyone hates him, or just hating. All the guys on the business side are short sighted and looking for the quick buck.
