he just said that Ibragimov is YOUNGER than Klitschko and that he would win. Has he ever picked EITHER Klitschko to win a fight? I remember when he picked Kirk Johnson over Vitali. LOL
He really said that lol....im sitting here with my headphones on but i could see the interviews on t.v. lmao im glad i did...but i ain't surprised he picked Zab Judah to beat Floyd so...yea aight!!!
Remember Teddy's picks in Pav-Taylor I Cotto-Mosley Calzaghe-Kessler Pac-Barrera II Sultan's getting KTFO tomorrow night :bbb
Lol, just because he makes bad fight picks doesnt make him a joke. He is a good trainer, who's highly knowledable about the sport of boxing, Manny Steward also said if Wlad loses to Lamon Brewster he should retire, well he didnt retire and 2 years to the day after that he was champ of the world after he beat Bryd in April 06.
He's knowledgable, but he's really not a very good pro trainer. The only thing of note he did was when he gave dramatic speeches to Michael Moorer (who didn't even fight more aggressively after Atlas begged him to) when he beat Evander Holyfield the first time. Moorer fought with way more passion before and after he had Atlas in the corner. What else did he do of note? Another former Tyson trainer, the infamous Aaron "Put the Condom on the Eye" Snowell, did more as a pro trainer than Atlas ever did.
He also took a fighter in Shannon Briggs, to a Heavyweight title shot, he also did the same for Michael Grant, who was physically talented in sports like Basketball, Football, in Baseball and tranform into a contender that beat Golota and challenged Lewis for the title as well. Im not saying he was a great trainer, but he did have some success at it, and cared deeply about the fighters he was training and demanded the best out of them in the ring.
I believe he ment that Sultan has a "younger" profesional career, as he said it after comparing their olympic careers.
No he didn't. Shannon Briggs had Teddy Atlas in the corner when he self-destructed against Marion Wilson. Then they split after that, and a couple of years later Briggs fought his heart out (for once) against Lennox Lewis for the WBC title in 1998. Michael Grant had Don Turner in the corner when he lost to Lennox Lewis. Then Atlas trained Grant after that loss. I don't remember if Teddy was there when Grant lost to McCline, but he was in the corner when Grant lost to Dominick Guinn on the undercard of Ward-Gatti 3.
A person isn't a "joke" b/c of the job they have, whether it's working fast food (hard work) or being a talking head (Teddy). A person is a joke when they say things in all seriousness that are so stupid they could be mistaken for jokes. Like the things Atlas is always saying. (See above user posts)
Fair enough, I still feel Teddy is a good trainer. I thought he had the right attitude when it came to boxing, he always stood up for his fighters and tried his best to get guys like Moorer and Briggs motivated enough to train hard for fights, his book was a good insight into what kind of man Atlas truly is.
Atlas does seem to have a dislike for the Klits. I don't know if he picked Sultan because... A. He truly thinks he will win B. He just doesn't like him some Klitschko C. He thinks by picking the big underdog he can look like some kind of genius if Sultan does pull the upset. Whatever his reason he will be wrong and look less credible when it comes to fight predictions.
