So glad to see everyone shares my thoughts that Atlas is and has always been a ******* and a joke, **** trainer claim to fame is he worked with Cus and put a gun to Tyson's head. He is soo biased it's unreal he can't seem to accept that EE fighters are just as good as American ones and better in some divisions. Guys a grade A ****, anyone who has Fight Night Champion will know his voice his commentary all of it is unbearable i actually play that game with sound off because of him. **** off Atlas retire
lol he knows mayweather's the best out.... he's right there. i'll tell you when he really pissed me off, bernard whooped jean pascal.... and they had bhop on friday night fights, and this mutha****a refused to give him credit.... gtfoh instead of talking about what an incredible achievement, he kept going on about how fighters 'today' don't have the skills.... smh
yo, i've read his autobiography.... it explains why he's the way he is.... he's got a chip on his shoulder because he never made it as a fighter.... he writes the whole book from a confrontational standpoint... and all the times he had fights in the street as a grown man because someone looked/said something..... to prove he was some type of tough guy was my interpretation, but he tries to make it out as if it was on righteous type of ****.....
Teddy Atlas knows boxing, people. He learned it from Cus D'Amato. If you don't know who he was, then use Google.
Morons like this and other sh*thead babyboomers are keeping Teddy Atlas in a job. Teddy made his name by piggybacking off Tyson. Period. His mouth is loud enough that he gained notoriety. That's it. He has no use as a trainer/boxer/commentator.
He's still figured out how to swim without getting a sunburn, so that has to count for something. Or something like that.
His analogies are amusing at times, and yes, he does know the sport. But that doesn't mean he was a good trainer on the pro level. The people who claim he "willed Michael Moorer to the heavyweight title" need to watch that fight in full again and see how Moorer didn't even listen to him when he was pleading with. Another myth (that HBO's Legendary nights help popularize, big surprise!). Fighters like Michael Moorer and Shannon Briggs fought with more heart with another trainers than they did with Atlas. He's also pretty hypocritical in regards to mismatches when he puts his own fighters against overmatched opponents, then speaks so loudly about them on the air about how mismatches kill boxing. He's also quite unstable or desperate to sell books being as they he said he planned to murder Donny Lalonde for cutting ties with him before the Leonard fight. Maybe he wanted to kill him for not fighting tall. I don't really hold the Tyson thing against him. Okay, maybe he could have handled it better than putting a gun to his head, but I often read posts where people act like it was Atlas picking on some poor teenager. Have you seen what Mike Tyson looked like and was built like at 16? Not to mention his rap sheet that was a mile long.
This is funny. I started a thread a few months ago about this and got ripped for saying the same things. His prefight analysis (for a so called expert) is laughable. He side steps the Mexican, throws a fake cross and says "boom"... Gee thanks Teddy.
