I get his point about young foreman making all kinds of excuses for his loss. Old foreman finally accepted reality and became much more mentally tough.

However, younger george wasnt a front runner with no back bone. He showed incredible heart in the Lyle fight getting off the floor to win a gruelling slug fest. Could older george beat his younger self with all his wisdom, experience, and the humility to stop making excuses? Possibly, but it wouldn't be as easy as Atlas is making it seem. Young George was a wrecking ball and full of anger and one of the most dangerous fighters of all time despite his so called lack of mental toughness.

    Nope.

Maybe he is overinflating the perceived stature of Old George as a defense mechanisn for his charge getting KTFO by Old George.

Young George was too quick for Old George.

    Kinda bull

George went life and death with Gerry Cooney, an inferior George in every way except handspeed. Young Foreman would duke it out with older Foreman and eventually break that wall of old man down

Atlas is a mess. He picked Foreman for Moorer because he thought George would be an easy win. Teddy was even grabbing George during a prefight press conference trying to get George to fight him (Atlas), too, that's how little Atlas thought of Foreman.

Then George wasted Moorer with one shot.

A young Foreman would've taken out Moorer quicker than David Tua did.

George was better whan he was younger. Everyone knows that.

Think Alex Stewart goes the distance with a young Foreman? Think Crawford Grimsley or Tommy Morrison go the distance with a young Foreman? Please.

Teddy's just doing what he accuses others of doing ... making excuses for one of the most embarrassing losses of his career as a trainer.

Tbf young George wasn't a speedster himself but he was certainly faster than old George

I wouldn't say Foreman went life and death with Cooney...he was wobbled in the first, but was dominating the second even before he found the sequence of punches needed to plant Gerry on the canvas.

I would favor young Foreman to win against Old Foreman, though.

Yeah I've been using "life and death" pretty liberally recently, might need to think before I talk

Probably the most profoundly stupid thing Teddy has ever said.

Yeah, Foreman didn't have any problems with Cooney. He was stunned in first round but it was expected as Foreman took many shots in his fights (especially as he got older).

Young Foreman was clearly better fighter even if I like watching his older self more.
