[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pG6RSnZPcwk[/ame] good Atlas interview about Povetkin and Sauerland....
Atlas is openly resentful towards Sauerland. He suggests Sauerland would have taken nearly all of the 2 million purse offered to Povetkin.... Well Teddy I bet Sauerland has invested alot of cash into Povetkin at this point and they are Povetkin's promoters after all... Atlas really hates Sauerland rants on about him for minutes. All this conflict can't be positive for the Povetkin camp. Incidentally I heard elsewhere that Povetkin wasn't happy about the recent Huck/Lebedev affair. "I don't even want to be in boxing any more...." he says he's only in the game because he likes Povetkin.
Holy ****. Gotta say Atlas doesn't hold back. According to Sauerland has a slave contract with Povetkin and rip him off. He calls out Kalle Sauerland personally haha Hilarious. Atlas has lost his marbles long ago.
I gained respect for Teddy Atlas when he came out and admitted his fighter wasn't ready for Klitshcko, because he wasn't. So many times we see fighters "Microwaved" and thrown into fights their not ready for when they haven't finished developing as fighters. Andre Berto is a prime example of a fighter hand feed opponents and a world title prematurely and now when the S*HIT hits the fan everyone is wondering why your not taking on legit challengers.... because of course your a Champion now. If Potivitkin was to have fought Klitschko 18 some odd fights into his professional career he would have been ruined as a fighter, not only physically but mentally. Of course Saurland makes his money but Potvitkin is in turn ruined and has to take a step back. Then its Atlas who has to take on the task of rebuilding his confidence which could take even more time.
whoah..sweet interview for bokser.org.....You can be certain Atlas will not be in Povetkin's corner for his next fight.
If he wasn't ready, why the hell did he enter the tournament to get a shot at Wlad? Just don't tell me Povetkin didn't know he is not ready and he needed Atlas to enlighten him on that. The real problem is not whether or not he is ready for Klitschkos (although with his style and size I guess he'll never be ready anyway, and this is not Atlas fault). The bottomline is that even if he doesn't want any piece of Klitschkos, there is enough decent fighters left. Haye, Adamek... it is not difficult to find someone better than Oruh. I'm not sure how much of that can be blamed on Atlas. Still, usually most of what he tells turns out to be complete bull****, even if Atlas himself looks like he believes every word of it.
Its true but I believe Atlas when he says that the decisive factors of him pulling Povetkin out was that he believed Povetkin would likely lose (not at his peak readiness with few fights in the pros) AND not make any money at all due to his slave contract with Saurland.
