  1. Apparently Lennox Lewis slapped atlas to the floor once when he started going off at Lewis

This move was less to irritate Foreman than it was to show Moorer that this big, scary SOB was a human being. It's well known that Michael had a tendency to let self-doubt creep into his head from time to time.

Knew you were just a tyson crybaby and the answer is NO

No man on earth could beat up tyson back then, plus what he did was outside the realm of "fair fight", when he molested an eleven year old girl.

This young tyson was an arch criminal in and out of jail breaking old womens faces and robbing them of their handbags. Thisi tyson was a street thug and teddy knew how to deal with that.

And he cried like a baby, and probably pissed his pants too, because teddy let him know that he would be covered in dirt if he crossed him again.

Teddy meant it and tyson knew it.

Probably did him a favour- nobody else in damatos place could control Mike

I said before in a thread a while back, if the Gun was brought in to put Tyson in a vulnerable place like he put that Girl in, I'm for it. But this is Teddy Atlas. Think about his position.

This is Teddy Atlas, a person that went on for years telling the story about how he had pointed a gun to Tyson (a 15 year old) to teach him a lesson. You keep that to yourself unless you for some reason; you have to tell it. And just like his dealings with other people, his fighters, he likes to talk about their inadequacies and not his own (so much).
And when you do tell a story, if its a must, you tell it once and that's it.

The point with standing toe to toe with Tyson is a respect factor. Just like Tyson respected the people that kicked his ass in the ring, that's what you are aiming for. Guns don't make you a man or put you in a true position of respect. Now a Gun does show a symbol of something that could finish you for good...and that's what it seems Atlas was aiming for...but even still, first get someone to kick his ass and then have that guy point the gun to his head and tell him there could be more. Now if that is excessive for what Tyson did...I don't know. I was there.

But yes, Teddy would have gotten his ass kicked. But don't act like a tough guy because you were carrying a gun against an unarmed person unless you explain the full situation of the story. And given his own ridiculing of fighter's "Character"........................

Tyson was 15 years old. You could have gotten someone to kick the **** out of him. Someone that could fight. Especially an older trained fighter that he knew and respected. That's what tends to happen; especially back in those days.

Fast forward to Teddy's book where he talks about Donny LaLonde and you should get the idea of what I'm talking about.
Seriously, was that story even necessary?
    Was that action even necessary?
But I'm glad he told it because it shows a part of who he is. It was revealing and if his intention was to show that he is not perfect, that he has serious character flaws and judgement, OK; that's a start. It's something he can show where he was still at and something he has to learn from and overcome.

So here is Donny LaLonde talking about Atlas and the Situation

    Start time: 1:10

As far as Tyson, I agree with the thug part and always have: Tyson was a thug and a low-life for many of the things he did in his teens and even after.

Here's what Teddy said about Tyson that day and the way he tells it I can agree

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXpNxe4KfFs[/ame]

however, it's his own history, his own previous actions before and after Tyson; and his own continuance of the story the way he has told it in the past that leaves you with conflicting emotions. Teddy's own "choice" to become a thug in his youth and continue on with some thug actions/thought, let's you in on his own character.
Yes, he says its because he thought it better to become a patient to get his Father's attention but I know first-hand of someone who had this very similar type Father, similar position, and did not chose to become a thug...instead, this person "chose" to be like his Father and do good deeds.

In the end, Teddy did seem to turn things around when he was helped out. However....it's hard to say what's what.

    _______
From the other side of the story; Tyson didn't **** his pants or anything like that. One of the stories told, by people like Rooney, was that He got pissed off after the incident and like a thug, was going to go hunt Atlas down until he was sent away and the situation calmed with Atlas gone. They were more worried about what Tyson was going to do than what Atlas was going to do. And with his past actions, Tyson would have most likely done it and ended up back in jail.

I posted up a tidbit from a book where there is a first-hand account of Tyson's psychology when he was talking about his past...it was a bit disturbing.

In the end, without going through even more, it's hard to say what is what when looking from the outside. Both Atlas and Tyson may have serious flaws in judgement and character based on stories told about them and especially stories they have come forward with in their own words.

Nobody is perfect. But we could be seen as a representation of our choices.

And talking on a Forum about people in such a manner, like you and I are doing, although can be seen as throwing around ideas/thoughts, and seeing if anything comes out of it........probably isn't the best "choice" either.

Like I said, nobody is perfect. I'm not. I'm still a work in progress.

Teddy a G I don't give a **** what anyone says, he always keeps it real. He's so damn passionate he can't control his emotions but that man loves boxing and has given his life to it. He's a great character, my fave persnality by a longshot even though I often disagree with him.
