Another thread jogged my memory on this man. I think I posted on him befor but it went nowhere. Anyway here we go. 106- 18 according to Boxrec with only 17 KO's yet beat such an array of great and very good fighters. I can only imagine if this guy carried some power! Some of the scalpes he took Lloyd Marshal Jimmy Reeves Nate Bolden Al Gainer Archie Moore Ken Overlin Billy Conn Lou Brouillard Solly Kreiger Babe Risko Terry Young Vince Dundee Pete Latzo Tommy Freeman He lost a decision to Ezzard Charles in something like his next to last fight and was only stopped once on a TKO. Pretty amazing when you consider this was all done with the punching power of say a Paulie Malginatti. I may have butchered Paulies name there.
I was watching his fight with Vince Dundee. I thought he looked really good, although Dundee looked pretty terrible.
Teddy seems severely underrated today, but a lot of guys from that era seem to fall through the cracks in modern rankings for whatever reason.
Dundee was strange, his style often looked so awkward that you wondered how he would make it work, damn tough dude though I remember his only (or maybe it was a few near the end) stoppage being to Steele where Steele had to throw enough to kill a damn horse to get it done. Yarosz is an amazing boxer though, I still cannot decide on him vs Burley, I think they were quite similar in their approach to always be in control and just be a master of their style. He was really in that top range of ATG boxers. He had some tricky moves you do not see often though. He threw quite an interesting right hand while coming in and crossing it over the opponents face to go into a clinch, and he looked good up close, shuffling to gain position inside and being able to be quite rough there, he threw a left off a clinch against Dundee that mighta knocked down a guy that was normal. And his jab was amazing he was a really impressive feinter. I made a short vid of some of those things slowed a bit if anyone's interested. This content is protected
