I find this a quite flagrant foul that atlas delivered to Mike Tyson while on the Joe Rogan podcast:

He essentially said, Tyson never showed up for any of his fights except for his losses against: buster, Holyfield x 2, Lennox Lewis, Kevin McBride, and Danny Williams. So technically 0-6.

This never set right with me, to call Tyson a coward who had only had "athletic exhibitions " for crying out loud. Ted said Tyson NEVER had to dig deep in all his wins! "It is not a fight until you surmount some type of opposition, " and when I guess you get over that than it is qualified as a win?

Wtf is teddy saying, that it's ONLY an athletic exhibition until you have to face some type of obstacle?

Imo, Tyson was that great to get all those plethora of wins. Why only limit him to 6 fights in his career and claim he only had 6 fights?

Honestly, why? Because he never faced that kind of opposition?? Your thoughts???

Teddy is at 0-6 after getting fired by Tyson, Moorer, Briggs, Grant, Povetkin, and ESPN.

My 2 cents would be that whenever you climb through those ropes it's a fight. Win or lose, you still had to get in there.

I like Teddy's commentary but he obviously has a dislike of Tyson. Both Ruddock and Tucker stood up to Tyson but to no avail. Bruno nailed him with big shots in their first fight but to no avail. Let's not rewrite history.

    The Ruddock matches were tough.

He’s half-right, at least. Tyson showed more quit than he did grit - but as others have mentioned, he wasn’t completely a front-runner. I don’t give him any credit for how long he hung around in the Douglas fight, as some seem willing to do - that was a fit young man on autopilot, getting beat down by an average (at best) puncher. But he did produce some fortitude in two tough outings vs Ruddock. Not a fighter with a lot of heart, but not exactly Naseem Hamed, either.

On the other end of the spectrum are Tyson fanbois who insist he is undefeated and want to put an asterisk by every so-called loss:

Douglas *Lost virginity in Tokyo, doesn’t count

Holyfield I *There was a head butt, doesn’t count

Holyfield II *Another head butt and DQs aren’t really losses even when you bite someone’s ear off, doesn’t count

Lewis *He was past prime, doesn’t count

Other two dudes **He was old, doesn’t count

Oddly, it doesn’t apply the other way around: Larry Holmes was old, but the fanbois want that to count. Not every opponent was in their prime of life and had perfect training camps. Ruddock got butted by Tyson. Etc.

I like Atlas for the way he triggers Tyson fanboys, but he's so wrong here. Tyson had to go through adversity against Tillis when he was outboxing him and in the wars with Ruddock. He also showed lot of heart against Douglas and Holyfield when he was getting beat the f up. Even with Lewis, he tried being totally overmatched. Yes, he lost 4 out of these 6 fights, but he won 2.

Can't stand arm chair warriors like Atlas. That man is incredibly lucky he was briefly around a 14-15 year-old Tyson. He's been this nonsense for 30 years now. Tyson could have died against Lewis, he showed incredible courage in a fight he knew was lost after one round. The Ruddock fights were brutal, give and take wars. Atlas and guys like Ron Borges need to form a Reddit group of guys with 0-0 records to judge the courage and heart of historical champions. It'd be great.

I understand why he hates Tyson. It’s def not without merit. But I think it’s swaying his opinion of his boxing ability. He def fought through a couple fights. He was also a different animal under cus…that man before winning the title id assume would show a lot more heart in adversity fights. It’s hard when ur super rich to train hard and refuse to lose but that’s what endears fighters like Ali, Holmes, Marciano etc guys who won the title and continued to train hard and get off the matt when they didn’t have to. Guys like Liston, Tyson, Ingo, Bowe etc just didn’t train as hard after they won it all and it showed in their after career

He is right. Tyson was a gutless bully. He never rose to his feet once he was dropped.

Whatever anybody tells you, you don't get as far as Tyson did at that level, by being a gutless bully.
