Here's the Hints once again: The guy was born in California His home town was located in New England A couple of members of his family also boxed pro The 1st time he fought for the World Title he floored the Champion But the bout ended in a draw. He would get a return match and again, it ended in a draw. (Now not too many Championship bouts have ended in draws, and they did it twice) He would lose in another Version of the same World Title and then got another shot at the same World Title, losing on a split decision at a famous ballpark.
I know nipper pat daly had 118 pro fights before he retired at 19. Didnt fight for a world title though. Just though id add that as it is slightly related
Yes, indeed a very special record. If his BoxRec date of birth is correct, he actually reached pro fight No. 100 when he was just 16 (one month shy of his 17th birthday)... which is truly remarkable!
He fought 19 bouts in Massachusetts, including his last 6 in his home town of Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
BoxRec lists Dave Shade being born on March 1, 1902, and he fought his 100th bout on October 22, 1921. Edit: I just saw you were talking about Pat Daly, not Dave Shade, and yes you are right. Daly finished with 119 bouts and he wasn't even 18 at the time, that is if BoxRec is correct.
