I find it hard to credit a victor of a 6 round points decision.

Prety common during Sullivan's title reign.

Some states imposed a six round limit up to the 1930s.

Ross, who had only won one of his last eight matches was floored but went the distance.

This has to be one of the worst title opponents in the history of boxing.

Giving a guy who could only win one of his last eight a world title shot, and not finishing him?

Has a world championship ever changed hands on a decision of a 6-rounder ?

    Yes.

Sullivan unified the queensbury title in 6 rounders.
