I want to hear how it went. How did you feel afterwards, before, during. Did you land any good shots, did he/she? Anything you can hang your hat on after walking away if you didn't win? If you did, win did you carry that momentum into your 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th fights etc etc.
Well i had my first fight a little over a yr ago, going into it i strangly was anxious to get to it, wierd i know but when i finally got to it, strangley enough i kinda blacked out and had one of those feelings where you are watching yourself move but having no control over yourself, it was an amazing feeling. afterwards i didnt remember what happened, thank god someone recorded!! anyways i knocked him around the ring for two rounds and gave him 2 standing 8 counts in the first round b4 i knockd him down in the 2nd and they stopped him via TKO!! I was landing power shots the whole fight to his head and body and stopped him with a 3 punch combo to the head, he caught me with one good shot when i rushed in but i didnt react to it, and turns out he was so distraught by the loss his coach said he gave up boxing. Turns out the fight gave me a little to much confidence and my next fight i went against a heavyweight because they couldn't find anyone in my weightclass (178 lb) so i went ahead and fought him and lost by decision. i was devestated by it but kept my head high and in my third fight i boxed another heavyweight and won!!:bbb
Thats funny my story went almost exactly like panthers, i got 3 standing eight counts in the first round, the 3rd one being when the fight ended at 37 seconds of the first round, i felt great afterwords n didnt remember it much and jus like panther i came in very cocky my 2nd fight and lost a decision.
I lost my first, 27-23 or some crazy score like that. It wasn't even an uncontrolled fight strangely enough considering the score. Can't remember much about about before the fight apart from being very nervous of course. Got hit with a huge right in round one and was very tight so started slow. Got better as the rounds went on but didn't make up for the slow start. Was very anxious to get in there again, hungrier than ever.
Lost, 5-4 scores, which sounds pretty pathetic compared to RDJ's scores. Learned that the ring is very hot under the lights, 3 rounds is longer than it seems, fighting is different to sparring, you need your brain more, and most of all that 99% of young boxers are as hungry as you, and you're nothing special
Trained for 5.5 months. All my sparring was with people bigger, stronger and more experienced then me so the first time I was in the ring with someone my own size and experience level was my first fight. My coach at the time used to joke with me that when I finally get in the ring with someone my own size I'll be surprised by how much easier it is to 'push them around'. A girl from my gym was training for the amateur world championships so I basically went through her training camp with her so I was really prepared. Here it is. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HU0OaSxQeB4[/ame] Won my second fight by second round stoppage two weeks later. My third fight a week after that I nearly ko'd the guy in the first 20 seconds be he survived and I got tired and he won a decision. That's how I learned I need to pace myself and can't go for the kill with every shot.
cause im deployed to iraq right now, so the last time i was training was dec of last year, formal boxing training anyway
I can't remember exactly where it hit and it's hard to tell from the video. I just remember my right hand was all swollen up after that fight haha.
lolzz thats how you know you landed a great shot, now you can say the immortal line :tong"This hurt me way more than it hurt you":tong
Mine was nooooo fun. Woke up bang on the weight (178lb) and the fight wasn't until late that day, so I shadowboxed in layers for half an hour and dropped 2 pounds so I could eat. This was about 6 hours before the fight. Then I drove 5 hours to get there. I got a ticket on the way. Weighed in at 175. Turns out my scale was 3 pounds over and I didn't need to cut any weight lol. Got extremely nervous/amped up before the fight, just standing around waiting. I was pacing and whatnot and people were like jesus dude calm down. Anyhow, I got into the ring and set out trying to jab. I landed a few solid jabs and the guy (who was only up to my shoulders but built like a brick **** house) started smiling every time I hit him. The rest of it was kind of blurry. I was out of shape and afraid to let my hands go, and he was hurting me with everything he threw. Rocked me good at least 4 times, one of which was a shot I blocked--the impact went to my jaw and both of my hands were numb for a few seconds. I ended up just throwing single shots, just a jab or a straight right. Too nervous about getting KO'd or gassing out to let my hands go. In the last round I was like **** it I've got to do something so I pushed him to the ropes and unloaded about 8 shots on him. Then he blasted me good lol. Anyhow, I lost what was probably a wide decision, though I definitely outscored him in the 3rd. He told me after the fight that my jab was hurting his nose like crazy, and my coaches told me I gave the fight away by not jabbing. I hurt everywhere for over a week after it. (Turns out the guy ended up winning the tournament and KOing the other guys he fought, though I really didn't think he was anything special as a boxer. Just hit SO. ****ING. HARD. Good times though. I'd do it again. Minus the weight issue and the speeding ticket, I think it might have been different, but regardless, I improved a lot as a result. I had been trying to be a boxer/mover which was contrary to my natural tendencies, though since I'm tall for my weight it'd appear to be a good style for me. Since then I've reverted back to pressure fighting and it's worked much better. I take a lot less punishment too
