There's a pretty long history of guys getting buzzed early in their career and then developing a stronger chin later. What it really complicates is his next few fights, not really sure who he could continue to step up to that won't do the same thing except with better follow up.
To me, it is more a question of what it did to his ego/psychy. A prime example of mental fragility is not being able to acknowledge the demonstrably obvious, that being that he was absolutely hurt by Linares. Haney had nothing left for the last 2 rounds.
For all his speed & Mayweather posturing he actually doesn't do anything special really.. Broner used to do all that .. his footwork isn't anything to write home about , he just works off the jab rolling with the punches , it looks cute but he's not really a multi faceted fighter.. doesn't fight great on the inside , moves in straight lines, lacks power .. he's quick & athletic but I get Dirrell vibes about him.. still young tho but the wrestling isn't a great look for someone ppl make out is one of the best defensive fighters at the lower weights.. he certainly wasn't comfortable when Linares knew he couldn't be hurt by him & started to slug it out a bit..
First time he fights live body he losing... This guy is what we call hype lol Teo or R. Garcia beat this email champion..
Linares looked flat footed, considerably slower. Linares chin is so inconsistent too, he looked tough as hell last night, other fights he looked like paper. A prime Linares may have beaten Haney but it seems that Haney changed tactics the last few rounds that cost him.
Let's see how quick Hearn makes that "HUGE OFFER" to Lopez.. I have a feeling after the dust settles and Hearn is behind closed doors he will realise Haney may need another fight or two or three or maybe four
He beat Linares clearly won like 8 rounds against a proven fighter that some picked to stop or beat him. This waa his first big test and he passed. Alot of guys lost in fights like this.
Haney aint all that... Linares from 5 years ago would have beat the breaks off him. is a future p4per? no
I was quite hopeful for Haney, he has the tools and skills, but there’s a risk that he could be another Dirrell, all the tools but not enough recovery powers. How do you think he stacks against the other 4? Ryan, Lopez, Tank, Loma. LW is stacked as fk though, Mikey should go back down and build a LW legacy.
It is fine to use it here. Saying Ramirez exposed Josh Taylor is just stupid(example). Taylor already had many though, close fights where we saw his flaws and strengths. Also like saying that Maidana exposed Broner. Nah, at least 4 guys before that already did it.
