There's no shame in being buzzed by Linares. Lomachenko was dropped by him and I don't even remember him receiving so much criticism.

If Linares had managed to deliver him down for a count next and next time, there then even had not mattered was Loma hurt or no.
Counts matters here and Linares was good.

Loma did not get criticism only because he after this had managed to land on him very precise and executed with a glance liver punch and with this had finished Linares in distance.
If Loma had won this one by decision, he had get damn harsh critique from euro and EE boxing fans with a glance, sharp and harsh.
Most likely even far far more worse than about on cards lost fight vs Lopez.

Gtfo.. Linares is nearly 36 now & has been out for a year & a half , that's almost game over for a LW.. & Haney also holds all the physical advantages over him too..
height, speed, reach, youth... the Linares that fought Loma & Campbell (fresher, quicker & more active) would have given Haney fits.. & Btw, Loma got a TON of heat for getting dropped by him anyway.. **** loads.. I remember it well. Haney is a disrespectful little toad (his behaviour towards Linares post fight is that of an entitled little **** who has been spending too much time reading the comments of the casuals on his Instagram).. he began to unravel towards the end of this fight, it was embarrassing watching him wrestle a shot fighter .. when Loma turned it up against Jorge he left him in a crumpled heap, Haney tried to blow him all night

Loma actually stop him in 2018(fresher, sharper Linares) and he was never hurt, being dropped does not mean that you are hurt, but Haney was hurt by Linares and he was holding for his life at the of the fight.

Haney have Height and reach advantage, he is young and fresh and could not do what injured Loma did 3 years ago and he still thinks that he is better than him.

Can we stop the hype ?

Just saw the extended highlights. Didn’t see anything out of the ordinary. He was hurt and he was a bit more cautious after but was still throwing. Linares seemed to do nothing.

    true,

he is young & has time to learn,

    However.
When Campbell rocked & dropped García he responded like a champion. (As much as I despise the lil-twat outside of the ring)

He still got up survived the round & then immediately went back to his game plan & dominated his opponent.’

when Haney got Rocked by linares.
he abandoned his game plan & went to a hugging & tackling drill in the 11th &12th. (FYI -That was the shameful part)

    Those are the championship rounds.
He will need those rounds in the future against better opposition.

The fans there at the arena sure didn’t appreciate it & neither did the majority of the fans on this forum.

his poor sportsmanship & answers post fight exposed his lack of character as well.

so he passed the test good on him for that, but I passed high school in a similar fashion , with a D-

& look how good I turned out ...Yippee!

Its hard to say he was "exposed" when he beat a legit fighter about 9 rounds to 3.

He got rocked by a guy who has stopped plenty of good fighters. Its not exactly shameful

    Well one thing for sure
He is better suited fighting the way he fought Gamboa

he may not be able to survive against a young hungry lion fighting the way he fought Linares. Although it made for drama & a great watch.

He may need to revert back to that boring vs Gamboa fighting style.

he will hear it from us fans for sure.
But eff it ... Floyd heard it from the fans & deposited all that hate in the bank.

haney will need to borrow Floyd’s sombrero & “bad guy “ charisma.

I also recall Linares winning more rounds and completing combinations at a higher rate vs Chenko. Haney isn't on Lomas level but he has great potential despite the usual naysayers on this site. They interpret his zeal and confidence as delusional narcissism, he knows the right shook him to his boots but he's also 22 and has likely never been caught like that before. Ginger boy was seriously buzzed by the “other” Cotto around the same age as Haney if I recall correctly. I also remember the negative Nancys on this site placing overly critical judgement on him as well. I might have been one of them lol.

Speaks volumes about our boxing community when people hyper-emphasize chinks in a persons armor and conveniently ignore the overall package being presented. Humans tend to inheritinly dislike what they don't understand, Haneys story is founded on grooming his natural ability, his market and the people it caters to includes a new generation who aren't as connected to the age old relationship between poverty and fighting talent.

Loma was also approximately 9-10 years older and knew how to deal with adversity, Haneys inexperience with trials and tribulations showed with his awkward holding in the next round. Knowing how to mask your vulnerabilities is an underappreciated skill acquired with time and maturity.

It is funny how biased people are toward people they like or don't like. I am not a fan of Haney and I didn't even watch the fight( I did check out some highlights). But if you are going to criticize Haney for holding then do the same for Ali who constantly held through the fight against anybody who wasn't a 180 pound guy like Floyd Mayweather. Ali held so much against Foreman I thought he was going to make out with Foreman. Bernard Hopkins held all the time and Tyson Fury only does a lot of holding and does a lot of running. But with these guys you call it smart boxing.
