    His style
    Most notable wins
Is he an ATG ? He is ranked where exactly ?

Why isn´t him never remembered when we discuss the great british fighters ? It seems to me that he is forgotten.... just looking at his boxrec and I can recognize many of his opponents !

He looks good in the footage against Battling Nelson.

Skilled boxer/technician who could fight from the outside & @ close quarters w/ respectable power & an iron chin.

His biggest/best career win was over Battling Nelson, who had only recently lost the LW title. Moran skillfully pot shotted him from the outside & nullified him @ close quarters en route to KOing him in 11, reportedly the 1st time in Nelson's career that he ever took a "10" count.

Prior to that, Moran had claimed a version of the BW title & fought 2 draws w/ ATG Abe Attell in challenges for the FW title. He was reportedly never dropped in his career until his disastrous challenge of Ad Wolgast for the LW title. Although Wolgast overwhelmed him throughout the fight, there was some degree of controversy over the ending as Moran claimed to have been KO'd by a low blow & photos of him on the canvas do show him clutching his groin area rather than anywhere above the belt.

He was probably among the best P4P fighters of his day & ranks among the best fighters in the FW-LW range to never win a world title.

I can only theorize that his failure to become universally recognized as a champ @at any weight + disappointing effort vs. Wolgast has contributed to him being overlooked today. I agree that he deserves to be rated among the best British fighters of all time - even Tyson once acknowledged that Moran was the only British fighter that he respected.
