Which opponents do u feel actually deserved the decision in their fights against Eubank? Just come out and say it and don't go into the whole "that fight could have gone either way" argument. Flat out, who should have gotten the nod but didn't?
You could make an argument for his fights against Ray Close, Graciano Rocchigiani, and Nigel Benn II. Although I don't think any were blatant robberies, just think these three nicked it.
No blatant robberies spring to my mind, a few close ones, but the way Eubank could make an opponent look stupid (espec. early days) probably edged the fights in his favour.
Fair point Joe, maybe it appeared closer at the time because the fight was in Germany and Eubank hadn't knocked him out. I did only watch it the one time.
I was only a kid when I watched this fight so maybe I'm wrong - there's a thread on this fight in the Brit Forum.
Eubank's great strength was his counter-punching. The more you lead, the more you get in return. Made him very hard to beat as a champion. To clearly beat him mean't a massive effort and I only saw it twice - Watson II and Calzaghe, where he was arguably drained. The fights where the opponent didn't attack were usually lousy!
Although he was behind in Watson II I don't think there is any doubt who won the fight! I always thought Watson might have got the nod in the first fight though. Close probably deserved the nod. Benn II would have gone to Benn had he not been docked a point iirc which sounds about right.
