No true boxing fan could have been sitting down during that last round as Chavez almost did the impossible. I think I woke my neighbours up. Great rally by chavez and he almost pulled it out

Maybe, although I think 95% of non Mexicans/those of Mexican heritage were screaming for Maravilla to hold.

Thank **** Chavez didn't luck out after getting dominated for over 11 rounds.

I was on my feet for most of the fight tbh! Great action, Martinez looked so relaxed in there, even after that hiccup in the 12th he got up and went straight back on the attack.

One of the best cards for action i've seen in a long time. Pity it was primetime with that wank benny the wig s **** commentry & wastefull studio yap that made us miss the anthems/ring walks & fan atmosphere.

I don't buy that, quite honestly. I think it was as simple as Martinez stopping the technically limited, athletically poor Chavez by keeping his feet moving. He got dissuaded when he couldn't land with any regularity.

Martinez also pressed the action in the opening rounds and constantly had the bigger, stronger Chavez backing up. The Sexy one showed some very impressive strategy in the first half of the fight.

Then you had the thing that did surprise me, that Sergio was willing to trade on the inside. Chavez would land a good hook and some sort of right hand, then Martinez would fire off six shots and slip around.

Really, Junior couldn't figure out what to do. He went for it in the 12th because there was nothing else for it. If he'd been more aggressive earlier on, he might have gotten even more damaged than he was.

Chavez' face looked like a car crash.

the only reason people are calling for a rematch is because of the 12th round.

Yeah it's possible, and I'm not saying he would've won had he pressed the action earlier, but I felt like he let himself down with his performance. I was expecting Martinez to win by KO, but this was still dissapointing from Chavez jr. To be fair to him, on the few occasions he did get on the inside, he was very competitive and had no problems landing. Problem was that he still lost the round because he didn't do enough of it. Maybe he couldn't. Maybe I'm expecting too much from him, but to me it was hard to believe that a pro could have such poor footwork as Chavez jr.

temple, I don't want to see a rematch either. Until the 12th it was a shut out.

I sat up and shouted out loud "He's going to get stopped"..... bearing in mind I was home alone I have no idea why I said it.

Rematch is pointless, Martinez clowned him for 11.5 rounds. Had jr pulled off the stoppage then yes a rematch would be more than justified but as stands it was a 1 sided beatdown.

    :good

    My sentiments exactly.

    No rematch needed either.
