Could be something you personally experienced in the ring, in the corner, in the gym, or something you witnessed anywhere around the game. I know there's a wealth of experience on this board, ex- or current fighters, trainers, writers, managers, or world class fans. Not just a thread for the old timers; I'd love to hear from some of the younger guys too, something that happened last week or last year. But the longer you've been around the more stories you have to share. Thanks.
im pretty young (will be 19 on friday) but i have followed boxing for awhile now and have attended many live boxing events and i must say that when FNF cam to pittsburgh to showcase Monty Meza Clay it was one of the most passionate and loud crowds i have seen..he was taking on former title holder (mostly shot though) eric aiken and the crowd was not very lagre as we were stuffed into an expo mart but meza clay got such a loud booming ovation i was shocked..when the bell started clay the much smaller man at only 5'2 to aikes 5'7 jumped onto aiken and threw combo after combo and had him in trouble many times through out the fight and the place was crazy from the opening bell the till the ref called it in the 7th and the place blew the roof off..i told this story because pittsburgh is not know as a huge fight town and meza clay is a good fighter but who knows how good but the pittsburgh fans should not be forgotten when it comes to great boxing fans it was a truly awesome experience and one i will never forget as long as i live
Great Tyler! Thanks for that. Pittsburgh, my home town, of course was one of the great fight towns of the past. No surprise that the fans still come out and respond enthusiastically when there's a good enough reason. It was and still is a gritty. tough town, which I think accounts for the popularity of full contact sports like boxing, football and hockey. Thanks my man!
ahh a pittsburgh man..you said it best its gritty and thats why we love our contact sports but your welcome for that story!
Really? I never got to see a Greb fight but i was a travelling Maxie Rosenbloom fan and saw most of his fights!
