I've put together a list of ten fighters from the outer realm that I have my eye on and that I think HBO and Showtime should think of using in the future. These are guys that have never appeared on either network that have either the pedigree or the potential to be there. This content is protected Ten from the Outer Realm Mark Ortega I've always been one to criticize pound-for-pound lists, as they are as egregious as they are subjective. Lists of any sort are, matter of fact. But here I am putting together a Top Ten of my own, one that features a list of ten pugilists, mostly from outside the United States that have yet to appear on HBO or Showtime television in any format. These are ten fighters I feel that should be taken a close look at by both networks, if not just for tomorrow but for beyond. Click here to read the rest...
Good article. I actually don't mind P4P lists of current fighters. If people can back up why they have fighters where they are, I don't mind them at all. Any other list of "greatest fighters of all time" and all that stuff, eh, I think they are garbage and a waste of time comparing fighters from different eras. Anyway, back on topic, that's a good list of fighters that should, hopefully, get some air time. I would replace Moreno for may'be for someone like Omar Narvaez. Moreno didn't do himself any good with this past Saturday. Good read though, a different list, and it was enjoyable. Nice. :good
If they are not Americans or Mexicans, HBO or Showtime more than likely won't pick them up unless they already come promoted by Top Rank and/or Golden Boy Promotions. What we need is for another network to pick up on these great fighters to expose them to the US, (where assuming they get the most money) because only two networks is just not going to cut it.
Thanks guys. Best bet is a promoter like DiBella or Shaw picks up these guys. Look at Sergio Martinez. Virtual unknown until picked up prior to the Alex Bunema fight. Now p4p top 3.
Burns is with Frank Warren who is the biggest UK promoter and can afford to pay him well for home defences, and Nishioka is really popular in Japan so he'll probably stay over there too. So basically I can't see either making it over to America on a regular basis unfortunately.
Nice thread buddy , id never even heard of 5 of them fighters cheers :good I do however feel that Nathan Cleverly should of been included in that list
Cleverly was borderline. The fact that his title fight was on the undercard of a domestic civil war scrap between DeGale and Groves shows how outer peripheral he really was. He's got the skills to succeed, most definitely.
