I have heard that after Teofilo Stevenson was coached by John Herrera (a former Cuban light heavy weight champion) as a young child he then grabbed the attention of coach Andrei Chervonenko, a leading soviet coach in Cuba's state sport system. Many have speculated that a lot of Stevenson's success was down to Chervonenko's guidance and coaching. What influence did this have over Stevenson's career and I wonder how Stevenson reacted to being coached by someone who wasn't Cuban?? Does anyone have any insight into this??
