Unfortunately you don't seem to understand the point, therefore switching the topic to money because you probably can't do any better.

This is one of the worst comments on here recently, and it just shows the lack of decency and respect, which appears to be normal and usual when certain people are concerned.

Stevenson is recognized as one of the greatest boxers of all time, and that is something he achieved through years of work and dedication. His success has made him a boxing icon and a hero in his country, and the fact that he managed to win the gold medal (three times) at the world's biggest and most important sports even is his legacy, something that will be forever written in the history of the Olympic games.

Now unfortunately we have people with a complete lack of respect towards anything valuable, who support those considered to be their representatives and their actions at all costs, no matter how wrong, immoral or indecent could they appear to be. It usually comes with the lack of moral principles all way back from the young age, which is now entirely different topic.

Either way, the things you've said speak more about you rather than Teofilo Stevenson.

It's quite obvious YOU don't understand the point. The Amatuer system is a stepping stone to the greater Professional arena, which I've pointed out quite clearly. Success in the amateurs is the equivalent of doing well in high school. This doesn't always translate to success to the Professional ranks, as I've also clearly shown as well.

The amateur system are designed to help guide YOUNG boxers on their way to their careers. The Cubans have won more gold in the amateurs or the simple fact they were never allowed to "graduate from high school", and were repeating the same grade (Olympics) over and over again.

Prime example is Felix Savon as well. He was absolutely battered by
Ray Mercer, but Mercer was robbed of a rightful victory by a corrupt Cuban referee.

Savon, one of the supposed best amateurs of all time, was just that...an AMATEUR. And like Stevenson, showed flaws that would have been MAGNIFIED in the professionals, like we all too seen already.

Greatest AMATEUR boxers of all time. BIG difference.

The fact that you deliberately chose to omit this distinction shows more about YOU and your cuban fanboyism, and that by itself says it all.

NO ONE considers Stevenson as one of the best BOXERS of all time, because that distinction belongs to the professional ranks, NOT amatuers.

What you're calling a "high school", is the most important and historically significant sporting event in the world. Until the 90s, the most of boxing's most powerful nations didn't even allow boxers to turn professional, therefore most of the best boxers from the USSR, Cuba, Hungary and other countries spent their whole careers in the Olympic boxing.

Yet you came in with the derogatory words towards Stevenson, a man whose name is mentioned with great respect, just because he was thrown into the debate with a boxer that you support and possibly associate yourself with.

That distinction belongs to those whose achievements left great impact to the sport, especially if the things they've done have helped spread the good image of the sport. What Stevenson (among others) has done and achieved is one of the greatest legacies in boxing, amateur or pro.
