Teofimo DECLINES a 15 million superfight with Shakur Stevenson

let this nonsense turn a light on the Americans who DO want to fight. Vergil Ortiz, Bam Rodriguez… they aren’t going to turn down Riyadh fights.

wtf is wrong with Teofimo. He’s never going to so much as sniff a payday like that again. That is life changing money. Asshat.

 

What drugs are you using to say beating a guy in his prime would not look better on his resume? Beating Pac at this stage in his career does nothing. He has lost to Ugas and draw with Barrios.

 

Teo is in dire need of a psychological assessment. The racist outbursts, avoiding seven-figure paydays to talk about fighting YouTubers, and just the way he acts in general—an unbelievably odd, and thoroughly dislikeable individual. It definitely doesn't help that he's got such an unhinged father living vicariously through his achievements.

Even with that said, I think Teo beats Shakur because he turns up when it truly matters, and he's incredibly gifted. So is Shakur, but he has not faced the same level of opposition in the ring. A decent UD against Zepada is not the same as beating Lomachenko, but we will never know because the two of them are more focused on Instagram followers than world titles.

I don’t know if I’m reading between the lines correctly but I think it’s possible he seriously overestimates the revenue generated by fighting a fellow North American fighter, and so he’s swerved fights against Haney and Shakur because perhaps he’s holding out for bigger purses - which would explain why he rushed into fighting Loma and Josh Taylor for relatively smaller purses even though both were European boxers, not PPV draws, and at the time very highly regarded as the betting favorites

 

$15 million is crazy money considering neither of them are big draws. Teo reportedly made $2.3 mill for the Taylor fight. That's basically 3 years of fights for 1 fight and that's based on every fight earning him as much as he did against Taylor which is more than he usually makes. Financially it doesn't make sense to turn this down.

I'm surprised never really considered Lopez as a fighter to duck big fights but it's clear as day now. He might be unhinged with his random tirades of incoherent thoughts but he isn't so deluded to think he could beat Stevenson and seems like he'll just sit on those belts and milk them.
