Anyone else getting Victor Ortiz vibes with Lopez? The complete denial of reality? Father issues? Getting his soul taken?

It’s his arrogance. He needs to accept his flaws in order to fix the flaws. He thinks he has none and what he is doing is the pinnacle of greatness. The guy is all power and nothing else. That power doesn’t look like it translated to 140 so he needs work on skills to get inside and land. The Martin fight he was stalking and lunging in all night. The much slower and less powerful Martin was able to time him and should have gotten 2 knockdowns. If it wasn’t for that he would have had a draw or lost.

Lopez should fire his dad, hire a competent trainer and rematch Martin. He lost that fight and he knows it even though he won’t admit it. I’ve watched the fight again and Martin clearly won a close fight. With the two KDs I don’t see a way to give the fight to Lopez. He won’t do it but that’s what a good fighter would do.

I thought it was what Taylor would do and was going to do with Cateral but don’t know what’s going on with that fight. If Lopez can come back and clearly beat Martin, it will do wonders for his confidence. I’m not sure he can do it without making major changes to his training and mindset. He’s in a tough spot albeit of his own making.

You can say that again. Ya gotta hand it to him, 92 yo or however old he is and doing what he continues to do. Pretty amazing. But the BS about Teo winning every round and slipping is what I was eluding to. Just feel bad for the Spanish boy who was robbed.

I think he struggles from a standpoint of trying to figure out who he is.

Another similarity is both possessed elite athleticism/speed but didn't progress with their skills whether due to lack of intelligence or lack of dedication.

I think that Teofimo is right. He doesn't still have it, the fact that he realizes this means that he can work on getting "it" back.

Now he’s saying he didn’t mean it and it was just something to give the media to talk about.

    This guy is done.

A win is a win stop beating the drum on a young fighter with skills his win over Martin is legit he put the pressure he was the hungry fighter threw more punches have any of you see Teo hurt from a punch the guy is adapting to his new division after beating a decent fighter with a good record who retired Mike Garcia.
