For decades it has been my habit to go back and rewatch fights in which my scoring was drastically different than the scoring of the judges. I do this to see what it is I missed that the judges (the experts) saw. Most of the time I can, at the least, see where the judges are coming from, even if I disagree. Other times, I still think they are completely wrong. Sometimes the fight is fun to rewatch such as Bradley-Pacquiao 1 and sometimes it's this garbage.

One note, when I do the rewatch I am trying to find reasons to score the fight for the guy the judges gave the win to. I stick by my original scoring of 116-112 Ortiz.

Round 1 - Nothing of significance landed by either fight with Lopez the aggressor. No problem if someone scores the round for Lopez. 10-9 Lopez

Round 2 - This should be scored as Ortiz' round. The problem for Ortiz is that all of his best moments were in the first 60 seconds while Lopez' best were in the easier to remember final minute. Nevertheless, the refs are pros and shouldn't be swayed by when it happened. 19-19

Round 3 - I'm not sure Lopez landed a punch this round that would have hurt me. All he did was follow Ortiz around the ring while Ortiz sporadically hit him. 29-28 Ortiz

Round 4 - Any small advantage Lopez had in this round dissipated when he stood in a corner and invited Ortiz to engage. Ortiz happily RSVPed with three or four solid punches. 39-37 Ortiz

Round 5 - Relatively even round with no big punches. This was the first round where Ortiz "ran" more than he moved. 48-47 Ortiz

Round 6 - Not much landed here by either guy. Teo looked so amateurish following Ortiz around the ring, throwing and missing while Ortiz occasionally landed punches. That round has to go to the ring generalship of Ortiz . 58-56 Ortiz

Round 7 - Easily Lopez best round so far. He landed more often and with far better punches. 67-66 Ortiz

Round 8 - Another round watching Lopez follow Ortiz around. Teo occasionally touch him with a punch but the punches Ortiz landed were much better. 77-75 Ortiz

Round 9 - Close round with little action and little to separate them. I don't mind a score favoring Lopez. 86-85 Ortiz

Round 10 - Originally, I scored round 10 for Lopez and I will here as well. That being said, this is a round where Ortiz did better than I thought and I could see this as an Ortiz round. 95-95

Round 11 - This was the second round where Ortiz was more about running than sticking and moving. Lopez 105-104

Round 12 - Although he fought a bit, this round was about survival and staying away from the aggressive Lopez. A definite Lopez round. Lopez 115-113

Although I don't believe my 116-112 score had any truly incorrect rounds there were three, rounds 1, 5 and 9, which I scored for Ortiz that I can see going the other way. So if Tim Cheatham and David Sutherland had Lopez goggles on I can barely tolerate their 115-113 scores. However, Tim Weisfeld's 117-111 is an absurd piece of garbage.

I wasn’t scoring the fight but I don’t t believe Teo won more than 3 rounds. He got outboxed and times where they both engaged Jamaine got the best of Teo.

Fair play to you for rewatching that.

Neither fighter won. One didn’t come to fight, the other didn’t adjust and use his ring IQ.

I'm not even sure Teo knows how to adjust. He was trying the same things in round one as he was in round twelve. Watching him I think he's all athlete and no brain.

I think he can, he adjusted when he fought Loma in the last few rounds when Loma was pouring it on him. I dunno if the Ortiz fight was similar to how Spence couldn't adjust against Crawford though

I misread the title as 'Teofimo Lopez - Jamaine Ortiz - the REMATCH' and freaked out.

You are a brave man than I am, son. You couldn't pay me to rewatch that abomination.

This is one if those fights were no matter what the fans are the losers, fell asleep from round 2-5 then woke up and tried to stay awake just to fall asleep 3 rounds later.

Jamaine does deserve one, but also - we don't.

I said with his athleticism, he should be an easy teach on cutting off the ring. He needs to get a trainer that can teach him the basics of cutting off the ring and to set up shots better. It seems when he gets mad or frustrated, he just loads up and let's his shots fly.

It was one of those fights.. Froch Dirrell.. Lara Canelo... awful style clash.. one guy is really negative the other one getting frustrated & winging a lot of shots.. I dont have a problem with Lopez winning, he pushed the fight.. I dont think a lot of ppl will wanna fight Ortiz now tho.. low reward high risk..
