People still refer to Ohio and Indiana as the Midwest. Not exactly worth stating my geography based interpretation. It's not an official title. Everybody's list of what constitutes the Midwest, or Middle East, will be different. Not really. The concept of Midwest in the US is fairly nebulous and recent whereas the concept of the Middle East goes back to Ancient Roman times and its delineation is actually quite specific.
