Wrong Virgil is the one that opted to call it a night. Khan simply said he was hurt by it when asked by the ref and by Virgil. Khan was in pain from getting hit in the balls and attempted to get the full 5 minutes he deserved, but was denied by the ref persistence to re-start the match and by his own trainer who didn't allow him to get the full 5 minutes.

Sorry but the replay shows he was NOT hit with a "nut-shot" but on the upper thigh. He saw a way out an he took it. This saved him getting stone cold starched.

BS, every fighter knows what "are you hurt" is code for. This wasn't Amir's first rodeo, he knows what's up. You tell both your trainer and the ref that you're in a load of pain, you know what's coming next.

What's coming next should be the full 5 minutes. The ref didn't do his job. Virgil should not have interferred with the 5 minutes. If you've ever been hit in the nuts, you know you need at least 3 or 4 minutes for that pain to go away so you can think clearly again.

Khan absolutely knows full well he is entitled to 5 minutes. Every pro knows that. He didn't ask for it.

You don't have to ask for the 5 minutes, it's supposed to be AUTOMATIC. The Ref's job is to INFORM the fighter that he has 5 minutes, which the ref never did.

Instead the ref was just like Can you continue Can you continue Can you continue a million times trying to re-start the match as soon as possible which is the exact wrong way for a ref to handle a low blow. Not only that but instead of pestering Khan to re-start the match he should have gone over to Crawford and warned him for low blows, **** he could have DQ'd him for that that was way low.

It would have been automatic, if he just took it. Hunter asked him are you okay, and Khan said no, which is code for "I quit". The ref didn't have to inform him about his right to five minutes, he knows that.

Wrong and wrong. Saying you aren't OK right after you've been hit low is not code for I Quit. Saying you aren't OK right after you've been hit is code for I NEED 5 minutes.

And it is in fact the referee's responsibility to inform the fighter that he has 5 minutes !

The ref should never be badgering a fighter about if he wants to continue before 5 minutes is complete. He can say "are you OK" but not "can you continue" until the full 5 minutes are complete. The decision about if he can continue can only occur after 5 minutes have elapsed.

It was below the belt it was NOT a low blow. It did not hit him in the groin but rather on the hip. Crawford hit him with 12 vicious body shots in Round 4 and Khan's hands were already coming down. This was going to end badly for Khan and his manager saved him.

Virgil stopped him from taking it by idiotically choosing to call off the bout after like a minute. But the referee did not follow procedure which seemed to lead to Virgil deciding to call it off. But Virgil should know better. He should have advised Khan to take the full 5 minutes see if the pain went away after a few minutes.

Khan's balls are so big they fill every space below the belt.

exactly, virgil asked khan if he wanted to continue, khan said he couldnt, after only a minute had transpired, so virgil pulled him out.
