You don't know that. I had my doubts whether Khan could last the distance, but he was starting to find a rhythm and he was landing on Crawford. We very well may have been robbed of a classic 12 round war had Khan been given the 5 minutes. But Virgil changed the course of history with his premature idiotic stoppage.

Convo from what is audible is

Khan resting with his back on ropes and Khan says something, then the ref says "I know man i just tod him. How you feeling?"

13 seconds later he asks "You good?"

Khan says something to corner and nodes his head, then ref looks at the corner and says "huh?" presumibly to Hunter, then calls off the fight.

No other trainer would have reacted like Virgil did. No other trainer would call for a fight to be stopped DURING a 5 minute rest period where your fighter is supposed to have time to recover from a low blow. Most trainers would become angry at the other fighter for hitting their guy low before they would decide to stop a fight then.

Virgil Hunter was extremely over-protective of Khan there in taking some vague "are you OK" moment to decide he needed to stop it. It was obvious that Virgil was concerned that his fighter was hurt, OK and I understand the protect the fighter argument, however at that point the best thing to do would be for Virgil to tell the referee to give Khan the full 5 minutes and if at that point Khan wasn't recovered, then the fight would have been stopped.

Khan's never been dominated like that before.

    Crawford is special.

Khan was dominated from the get go. He quit because he didn't like it. The fight was no classic, the KO was inevitable.

Amir khan himself disproves your theory on what happened last night.

Listen to the interview and how he loses track on what he should have said.

You know I'm not normally a fan of Teddy Atlas like crazy motivational trainers in between rounds but Khan was getting absolutely nothing from Virgil Hunter.
