No he wasn't, there is no reason to rank him above Spence, they are about equal. Ricky Burns is another decent win. Postol is another. Cervantes is overrated as hell. He was a 2 time champion but lost to several others in his career even before Benitez beat him, but it's still an incredible feat that Benitez beat him at 17.

Crawford competed all the way from lightweight to super middleweight that's more weight classes than Benitez and beating Canelo for all the belts, being 3x undisputed and undefeated clears Benitez. Loses count, they always have. Unifying the belts and being champion in more weight classes are bonus points for Bud

Cervantes is one of the greatest boxers to ever fight in his weight class can Postal and Burns say the same? No.
Roberto Duran is one of the greatest boxers of all time regardless of weight class is Spence? No.

Why did Duran lose to Kirkland, Sims and have a razor close fight with Lanas ?

Duran is one of the greatest ever but he isn't unbeatable and got absolutely starched by Hearns, he provided no resistance. What Crawford has accomplished has not been seen since Henry Armstrong. Crawford was champion in 5 weight classes, went from lightweight to super middleweight and unified 3 of them, literally KO'd everyone he fought at welterweight and has not received a single L. You can only beat who's in front of you. Crawford is better than Benitez and greater.

Benitez cannot realistically replicate Crawfords feats, Benitez does not have Crawfords KO power and lost to Hamsho and David Moore. Crawfords achievements are historical. He would be competitive with Prime Leonard, prime Duran, prime Hagler, and prime Hearns, and the idea that he could beat a couple of them isn't far fetched anymore.

I haven’t read the thread, but OMG if anyone is trying to say that Benitez was better than Crawford or even at his level. Spence would beat Benitez.

What fighter has Spence ever beaten that was close to a Benitez? Canelo was one of the most overrated boxers in years past so people are vastly overrating a boxer who has basically lost to every elite boxer he fought.

Hamsho beat Benitez at a weight that was too much for Benitez and lets not pretend Hamsho could not have beaten Canelo who is one of the most overrated boxers I have ever seen.
You act like Canelo was fighting these elite comp when he simply was not.
He fights GGG who is past his prime and the best the judges could give him without looking like an outright robbery was a DRAW.
He fights Mayweather and gets spanked for 12 rounds and rather easily. But he was not "ready" for a Mayweather. Canelo had been a pro for SEVEN YEARS.
He fights Bivol and gets dominated and rather easily.
And here is Benitez at SEVENTEEN outboxing an all-time great in Cervantes in his THIRD YEAR as a pro.
Canelo hits so hard and yet I do not see any elite boxers he stopped so sorry his one punch power is just not there.
Benitez would have beaten the hell out of Canelo especially at jr.middleweight.

Benitez might beat Bud and Canelo if they all were 17. But not as adults.

Canelo 2-0-1 against GGG is astounding btw.

Benitez would tear up Canelo Bud might be different. Everybody knows what happened in the first GGG fight hence why Canelo couldn't even take the torch from a declining boxer without help from his friends. The fact that he couldn't even hurt a 40 year old is shocking.

Benitez is levels above that and everybody knows that.
Simple thing to do is list all the jr.middleweights that Crawford beat say compared to Benitez.
