I don't know if this is correct but I read on ESPN that if Crawford beats Alvarez he will join Dingaan Thobela as the only men to win a world title at lightweight and at super middleweight. Thobela won the lightweight strap in 1990 and held the super middleweight belt for a short time in 2000. Interestingly, after winning the 168 pound title Thobela never won another fight. He lost his final seven bouts before retiring in 2006.
I think I took something called Thobela extract once for my dingaling. You'd have to ask Darnell Wilson. I don't have his username on here. But you could check with him. It worked.
Not only that. He will be just the sixth five division champion and the first three division undisputed champion since Henry Armstrong. If he manages to win, it will be an astronomical accomplishment.
The fact that Thobela held a piece of two titles shows how much the proliferation of belts has diluted the significance of holding a title. Thobela was a competent boxer, but, not genuine championship material. If I remember correctly, he had a grand total of zero defenses. Just happened to be in the right place at the right time when a couple fighters had a bad night.
