No. Totally different fighters. Crawford holds his hands as Whitaker did at times but the movement and reflexes of a prime Pernell is not something you or I will ever see in the ring again. Crawford is good..... Not nearly as agile or defensively sound as sweetpea.
crawford is so skilled, he can fight coming forward, he can fighting going backward. what a fight pacquiao vs. crawford would be.
Exaggeration aside, NO ONE would ever match Whitaker's style. I just thought Crawford's boxing ability showed glimpses of Whitaker. He also seems more like Mark Too Sharp Johnson as well. Just shows how good he is. He'll go far if he keeps this up.
Let's not get carried away. He's good but not great.....yet. Manny would punish this version of Crawford. Of course 140 is a big unknown for both Pac and Terrence but at this point these two are at different levels. Crawford show immense potential which is why I understand all the hype but a lot of folks are taking what they saw last night as if it was him beating an ELITE level guy and making it look that easy.....in actually it was a made to order top level guy in the division (#2) and he dominated. He would be able to do that against Manny nor would he be able to beat Manny if they were to fight tomorrow or next year even. Manny needs to slow down a LOT more and his physical attributes need to deteriorate a good amount before Terrence can be someone to upset the apple cart.....Or Crawford needs to level up to that of guys like Floyd and Manny before he can even be truly a threat to guys like that.
Too Sharp is a good parallel.....The DC native and the Omaha Native have a lot of similarities. But I saw flashes of Sweetpea as well. But a Whitaker is a once in a generation kind of fighter.....maybe 2 or 3 generations. To be mentioned with someone like that is a big honor.
