UD for Alfredo Martinez

 

Alfredo Martinez is "a member of Team Crawford" (not sure if that means a sparring partner, or managed by him, or what)

He looked decent enough. I can't begrudge him not getting the stoppage when Hampton put in such a concerted effort to deny it to him and was resilient enough to escape that 2nd.

 

Alex Saucedo vs. Angel Martinez, 6 rounds @ welterweight

 

I remember Angel "Chudinov Brow" Martinez from the horrific whippings he took from the Argentine bad asses (Matthysse & Maidana)

 

Round 1

Martinez is getting nudged around the ring by Saucedo's long spindly jab. Straight flurries by Saucedo, headhunting. Martinez is spider-legging away, in a somewhat gawky version of a shoulder roll, flipping up jabs from the hip. Martinez is hit with a low blow on the inside and takes a minute to recover. Time in. Nothing much of note happening, Saucedo following Martinez.

Saucedo's work is so untidy.

 

The main broadcast is on HBO WCB starting in an hour & thirteen minutes.

I believe it features Andy Ruiz Jr. vs. Raphael Zumbano Love and Mikael Zewski vs. Ayi Bruce in support.

Evgeny Gradovich vs. Aldimar Silva Santos will not be on the main triple-header, and should be coming up live on Top Rank's stream in a bit. (after one more bout following this one in progress)

Saucedo is following, ducking jabs, throwing combos, fishing low with straight 1-2s and slapping up top with hooks on Martinez's ear. Saucedo isn't forcing the issue or dictating the pace, just pressuring in first gear.

Three zip Saucedo, although Martinez began R3 with a spirited rally, banging away on Saucedo's flanks with hooks and leaping into him to pin him on the ropes. After half a minute of that Martinez shied from his task and was put on the backfoot again, with Saucedo pecking and slapping at him in the same familiar cha-cha dance pattern again. Very ugly.
