I prefer to see him against Besputin, who was muuch better then Kavaliauskas(who was just average) against the same opponents.Or with the winner of Besputin - Butaev(who destroys Porter in sparring)
It's frustrating to see the months go bye while maybe the greatest in the sport can't find a legitimate opponent. But at least this will give Crawford a chance to fight in or around his hometown (maybe even Memorial stadium) and at least ESPN will have a nice nickname (mean machine) to use to they don't have to butcher "Kavaliauskas"
After the Robinson draw, someone made a joke about this fight: "Oh well, I guess they will have to play the mandatory angle". Robinson was supposed to be a showcase and end up on a highlight reel. But Kavaliauskas managed to mess that up real nice.
There comes a point where Crawford has to reassess being with TR. At 147, there just isn't the fights for him in the TR stable. After Kavialauskus, who is left? Maybe if Ramirez beats Hooker, and comes up from 140? Maybe Besputin is he gets another couple of notable wins?
To be fair to him, Robinson seems to be a huge spoiler though I did miss both of his fights against Kava and Kelley. I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if both of those fights were robberies since we know that when a prospect gets a draw or a split decision, it usually means they lost.
So... Ray Robinson let's just too damn slick for The Mean Machine, yet now we're supposed to believe that he's somehow a threat Bud Crawford? This is the very definition of a **** fight.
