The gap in class is bigger than the gap in size. Nando would give Bud a tougher fight than Canelo did, assuming we're talking the prime Nando of 99-00, but I have to believe that Crawford's versatility and skill-set would be the deciding factor. Vargas beat a very good fighter in Quartey, but his history showed that he couldn't beat greats. And Crawford is certainly a great.

Crawford by UD, or possible late stoppage.

Prime Vargas would beat the brakes off Vergil Ortiz though, for what its worth.

Nando is getting slept. He is overly aggressive and that spells disaster against a counterpuncher like Crawford. Crawford is truly and ATG that is figjting in an era that simply isn't as popular as previous ones. The dude is the goods.

Thats overrating Crawford, and I'm a huge Bud fan.

He's not stopping a prime Vargas in the mid-rounds.

It took prime Trinidad 12 to stop Nando and prime Oscar 11, but Bud stops him in the mid rounds?

Yea I think he could. Vargas was tough but Crawford's speed would be on another level. Just the number of punches Fernando would walk into would accumulate IMO. One weakness Vargas had was when he was on the attack he forgot his defense. When he wanted to he ducked and slipped decently but he didnt integeate his offense and defense together.
Crawford is a outstanding counterpuncher and would be the stronger man.

So prime Vargas gets stopped quicker than a washed up Spence?? Quicker than Jeff Horn and Jose Benavidez? Stop it.

The Vargas that fought Tito or Oscar gives Crawford a very tough night. Oscar and Vargas and Tito destroy Spence. No question. Crawford would have to win on points.

Bud not knocking out a Prime Fernando Vargas.

A flash knockdown I can see happening to either guy.

Bud needs to be cautious and wary in the first 6 rounds , Vargas is very aggressive and comes at you Relentlessly and his HAND SPEED at his peak was actually very underrated. He can clip you fast and sit you down on the canvas out of nowhere. Bud is very hittable despite him being a solid technician.

On the flipside , Vargas style could play right into Buds hands and Bud can use him as Target practice. Bud is one of the greatest fighters I've ever seen in my life. I told everyone he was going to nullify Canelo and make it look easy.

I truly see this fight as a Tossup. I can see it going either way.

But ima go with Bud Crawford via Majority decision.

I'd say Crawford by stoppage. Vargas was a powerful fighter but he lacked tactical and defensive skills. In fact he lost to the best fighters he'd ever met, De La Hoya, Trinidad, and Mosley. With Mayorga El Ferocious was finished. In my opinion he'd also lost to Wright, but the judges had a different opinion than I did.

Crawford would put such a bad beating on Vargas after six rounds. I wouldn’t be surprised if Vargas pissed him off in the lead up to the point of Crawford carrying Vargas for a few rounds just to ruin him.
