I suppose that's fair enough, but the biggest names on Tzyu's resume were old when he fought them. So who does that leave? I mean how high do you actually rate Ben Tackie? Or Sharmba Mitchell? I'd take Porter over most of his resume.
You mean as opposed to the 32yr old Postol, 33 year old Gamboa, 34 year old Indongo and the 31 yr old Burns?
So that was a prime Chavez 140 fights into his career or whatever? Or a prime Jesse James Leija? Maybe I didn't express my point clearly so allow me to restate it: the biggest names on Tzyu's resume had alot of mileage on them when he fought them. How about that?
Leija? Really? You're going with that one. LOL Let me repeat my point, the best names on Crawford's resume have nothing on the best names in Zoo's resume. Kostya's resume>>>Bud's. I hope that's clear enough.
I understood your assertion the first time. Ok. So who, precisely, are the best names on Tzyu's resume, if not Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. and Jesse James Leija?
Already posted who I think are Kostya's best scalps a couple of times in this thread. I'm thinking this is starting to steer into a game of semantics.
Maybe, but you quoted me. Not I you. The burden is on you. That said, I'm NOT saying that Bud's resume at this point is better than Kostya's. What I am saying is that it's not miles apart (especially considering that KT was stopped by Phillips well before he took his biggest scalps) and therefore, to assert that Tzyu beats Crawford based on resume alone is irresponsible. Especially when Bud is rolling through his resume with nary a speedbump so far. Tell me your eye test makes KT better, ok. I might argue, but ok. That, I can respect.
He was finished when he fought Hatton. Leading up to and during the Phillips fight he was being sued by his ex manger (and eventually haf to pay him $7million). He wasn't himself there.
Tszyu fought & beat that many guys (amateur & pro) who either made the Olympic final or won a professional world championship it isn't funny. No way could I remember them all but here goes trying (excuse the spelling - I can't be bothered looking them up): Amateurs: Orzabek Nazarov (WBA lightweight champ) Artur Grigorian (WBO lightweight champ) Some Armenian guy (WBO middleweight champ) Vernon Forrest (Undisputed welterweight champ) Andreas Zeulow (1988 Olympic lightweight gold) Terron Millett (IBF junior welterweight champ) Some Romanian guy (Olympic silver in 1988) Pro: Juan LaPorte, Sammy Fuentes (WBO JW), Livingstone Bramble, Hector Lopez (Olympic silver 1984), Jake Rodriguez (IBF JW), Roger Mayweather, Calvin Grove, Rafael Rueles, Diobelys Hurtado (WBA JW), Miguel Angel Gonzalez, Julio Cesar Chavez, Sharmba Mitchell, Okay Urkal (Olympic silver 1996), Zab Judah & James Leija. I'm sure I've missed a few. Some were over the hill, some were a long way off reaching their peak but he sure did fight a lot of them over a long period of time.
Tszyu's best wins? I'd go: 1. Zzzzzzab Judah KO2 (legacy fight for the undisputed 140lb championship) 2001 2. Miguel Angel Gonzalez KO10 (brutal destruction of long serving WBC lightweight champ) 1999 3. Julio Cesar Chavez (Sr was well past his best but Tszyu was brutal) 2000 4. Sharmba Mitchell 2 (Tszyu much more impressive against Mitchell second time around) 2004 5. Vernon Forrest WPTS3 (Wins world 139lb amateur championship against future undisputed welter champ) 1991
Amateur wins at point fighting, have absolutely no bearing on the pros. Every boxer develops differently.
