A little bit of contradiction in terms, there

Fighters of the type you describe get their dues here too.

And while the majority of all fighters are what we might term, working class, there's little reason to scorn those higher born. After all, a man can no more choose the class he is born into, than he can choose his race or colour.

Barrera showed as much guts in the ring as did Morales.

The object of the game is to win, and the greater the skill level, the easier it is to win.

Now as a Pac fan and definitely not a Floyd fan, I can appreciate some of your sentiment here, as I find Pac's fights far more entertaining than Floyd's.

But I still appreciate Floyd's tremendous skills and make a point of watching all his fights.

Duran embodied both the elements you laud, and also displayed a top level of boxing skill, and is therefore my second favourite fighter of all-time, ahead of Pac.

It's hardly snobbish to recognize and enjoy talent. Your sense of what is snobbish might be somewhat excessively informed by your Marxist or nihilistic bent.

You say you're a contrarian. Fair enough.

That can be fun, even entertaining.

Hardly a sound basis for forming opinions, though.

It makes you part of the herd, but just in reverse. Your 'opinions' are formed by other people. I'm sure a bright fellow like yourself can see why that's the case, when you think about it.

I'm actually so much of a contrarian that I can't stand contrarians either:D I was p!ssing on everyone's parade, I was rooting for Beltran, I knew he had no chance so I bashed Crawford who I do find legitimately dull when he won, but he's obviously skilled as hell and Ray was screwed from the get go.

I don't form opinions based on being a contrarian, I let my passion guide me on this site, it makes for a far more enjoyable posting experience than playing by some guideline, I let my id take over, I make no distinction between what I want to happen and what I believe will happen. I knew Beltran would lose but I passionately rooted for him, but I truly believed that Saunders would beat Eubank Jr. and rooted for him equally. So by turns it makes me look brilliant and at the same time insane which is fine by me, I post in a way that blurs the line between my passion and my logic.

I don't give a damn what I sound like to you, because I don't give a damn about you or your opinion.:good

This is more or less, the definition of WISHFUL THINKING.

    Just saying.'

This directly contradicts what you said earlier in this post where you claimed to

"...make no distinction between what I want to happen and what I believe will happen."

If you rooted for Beltran, then you wanted him to win. And if you make no distinction between what you want to happen and what you believe will happen, then you 'believed' he would win.
Hence, you couldn't 'know' that he would lose.

    Unless you were confused.

    If you say so.

What I want to happen is what I want, as opposed to what I think will happen which is what I think. What I believe will happen is what I believe will happen, which means I believe it will happen. You must be confused because what you believe will happen is also what you want to happen and when you want it to happen it becomes what you believe, therefore it blurs the distinction in your mind between your beliefs and wants and they become indistinguishable from one another. Therefore your logic and reason become subjugated by your passions leading you to not be able to tell the difference between what you want to happen and what you believe will happen. Therefore the reasonable becomes unreasonable, the logical becomes illogical and the comprehensible becomes incomprehensible. Got it:good
