I agree with your opinion that Porter is a good measuring stick for the top welterweights. However, I think you missed my point with your example of Floyd/Cotto/Pacquaio/Mosley. In the examples I gave, I was trying to illustrate how fighter A beating fighter B and fighter B beating fighter C doesn't mean that fighter A beats fighter C.

A vs B: Tyson beat Ferguson and Tucker
B vs C: Ferguson and Tucker beat Douglas
A vs C: Douglas beat Tyson

IF Porter beats Crawford, we'll have another failed triangulation: Crawford/Brook/Porter.

It seems you're all in on Bud, so I'll just offer another view.

Bud vs Honeyghan from the Curry fight could go either way, depending on Bud's ability to deal with a rough and tumble fighter.

I believe Bud vs Starling is a 50-50 fight. Starling was that good.

Based on Bud's career to this point, I feel comfortable picking Forrest from the first Mosley fight to beat Bud.

I'm not sure Bud would have to worry about "countering Mayorga's jab." Can Mayorga even spell jab? If Bud is as good as we all think he is, he should be able to beat Mayorga AS LONG AS Mayorga's awkwardness doesn't enable him to land a shot that catches Bud by surprise.

Either way, I expect Bud's fight with Porter to answer a lot of questions about Bud's greatness.

I think a comprehensive victory like 10-2 9-3, shows he's levels above the rest. Porter is tough to ko.

Very interesting fight. Crawford is a very precise puncher and I can see him catching someone like Porter coming in. But then again, Crawford has never faced someone this size of this quality.

If Porter crowds him, as I expect he will, it will be a close decision for Crawford. If Porter tries to box, then it will be wide decision. Porter's chin is strong.

I would be shocked if Crawford took this fight.

porter better box and move like he did vs danny garcia. If he presses, hes getting brutally stopped.

I just dont think Crawford wants the challenge. Porter is rough and tough and will make it a hard fight for crawford. He may win, but it wont be easy.

I think porter will box and move and mix it up. To me, if hes aggressive there is only one outcome......timbbbberrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr........out cold!

I’ve always liked Porter but if this fight happens, Crawford will beat him soundly. I thought Porter gave Spence and Thurman (when he was good) great fights. Crawford is too skilled and will show the world why he was regarded as PFP for so long. He’s too smart, too skilled and will hurt Porter. Not sure if he will knock him out but Bud will win exchanges and dictate the ice of the fight.

Porter has a good gas tank and is very active but Bud can beat him inside, outbox him and if Porter gets careless, Crawford will make him pay. Good fight to watch and I really hope it happens.

Porter is athletic and strong and has an awkward style. It’s going to take more to beat a fighter like Crawford.

'Thinking' and it actually happening are discrete. Provide some link or other evidence when posting wishful thinking as such.

I think that it wil not be so important how well he does in the inside (a clinch resets the inside fight if things go wrong). But how much will porter have to pay to get in this inside fight.

If crawford makes porter to pay a good toll to enter in the short distance, porter will not see the 12th round.

And imho in the medium and long distance porter stands zero chances vs crawford.
