My cousin from Pueblo, CO, has known Ernie Marquez since he was like 10 years old... Says he's a cool guy, lives and loves boxing (owns a gym), and is one tough mofo. I guess he has a real big following around there, so he says.

    Fun resume.

Has losses to Richie Mepranum, Cesar Seda, Rodel Mayol, and Chris Avalos X2.

Also handed the first loss to Cuban Olympic gold medalist Yan Barthelemy, then 6-0, via UD6.

    Round 3

Determan catches Marquez rushing in with both arms flying outward hoping to start another long quieting sequence, counter right hand. Marquez is staggered backward on a delayed reaction. Determan fails to follow up and soon has Marquez all over him. Determan is circling with his left arm curled at his side. Marquez comes in clapping up top with rights and stepping in with left hooks on the jawline and body. Determan is wilting a bit. Flurry climbing up into Determan's face and back down his body by Marquez. Determan clinches and shoves Marquez away, then light-foots into the ropes. Marquez pushes through a right hand, making Determan blink, missing a left-right-left combo after that. Determan gets in counter right while turning away. Marquez down, shove, not a knockdown. Marquez has a bad cut by his left eye, gushing. They pause to examine the cut in the corner. Marquez is asked if he can see from that eye, and he can't. They stop it.

    TKO3!

I don't remember the ref stating it was from a punch. :huh

Should that not be a No Contest?

I was going to score that round (which had only moments left) to Marquez, tying it up 28-28 and making the would-be fourth very interesting. :think

    He was probably Determan's pediatrician.

Lupe Contreras has announced that it was ruled a No Decision, because the ref did rule the cut as being from a headbutt. :thumbsup

    Classic reaction by Marquez.

    "I can't see"

"If you can't see, we have to stop it"

    "I can't see"

    "Fight's over"

*Que faux outrage over the decision to stop the fight to grandstand for the fans
